**Position Description**:

**Department/ Division**:Translational Genomics
**Reports to**: Translational Genomics leads and Program Manager
**Term**: 1.0 FTE, 1 year contract (with potential for renewal)

In support of the SickKids 2025 Strategy and the vision of Unprecedented Outcomes Powered by Precision Child Health (PCH), the Translational Genomics (TG) team is hiring a full-time Research Analyst (Genome Analyst, Genomicist, Research Genetic Counsellor) to join our dynamic research team. The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that applies genome sequencing and other novel genomic technologies for rare genetic disease research. We are looking for a Research Analyst with experience analyzing and interpreting genome data, who can balance multiple projects and work collaboratively to support the various initiatives of the TG node of the Precision Child Health initiative. This is a unique opportunity to use your scientific skills combined with leading edge technologies to advance research, improve patient care, and contribute to the advancement of genomic medicine.

**Here’s What You’ll Get to Do**:

- Work with a team of physicians, scientists, genetic counsellors, bioinformaticians, and research coordinators to ensure the analysis of research genomic data from a variety of research projects.
- Analyze genome sequence data and prepare draft research reports
- Interpret and classify genetic variants detected in patients and their relevance to human disease risk by reviewing data collected from internal and external databases as well as published literature Maintain complete and accurate documentation of data analyzed and supporting evidence.
- Support the strategic priorities of Translational Genomics node and partake the development, implementation, and evaluation of ongoing and emerging initiatives
- Participate in the development of operating procedures and evaluation of new genomic technologies, with the possibility of contributing to academic activities by analyzing and preparing data for publication.
- Have a flexible work arrangement, with a combination of on site and remote work.

**Here's What You'll Need**:

- A M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Molecular Genetics or a related field with experience in genomic data analysis and interpretation in clinical context.
- Experience with interpretation of genetic variants and variant interpretation guidelines, and capacity to use relevant genomic databases, tools and resources in the interpretation of genomic data (e.g. USCS, gnomAD, DGV, ClinVar, DECIPHER, IGV).
- Familiarity with genetic test technologies
- Ability to critically analyze and interpret medical/scientific literature
- Demonstrated capacity to be self-motivated and a team player with a high degree of independence and professionalism to provide high-level genetics expertise
- Excellent organization and time management skills, good attention to details, and ability to adjust priorities according to workload
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Previous experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting is an asset
