Job Summary
Organizational Status
Reports to the Director, On-Campus Recruitment, on a strategic basis. Liaises directly with ISI Directors, Associate Directors, Managers and their recruiting teams to plan strategic on-campus programs that support the achievement of the overall enrolment goals of the University.
The Manager also works closely and collaboratively with:
- the Recruitment Marketing and Prospective Student Engagement (RMPSE) team
- Enrolment Services, including Student Recruitment & Advising (domestic), Undergraduate Admissions, and Enrolment Services Advisors
- Faculty and staff in academic advising offices and various departments
- Senior staff within Student Development and Services, International Student Advising, Student Housing and Community Services, Ceremonies and Events, Alumni and other units on campus offering attractions and orientation services to visitors to campus

The Manager, On-Campus Recruitment assists the Director in designing and managing a high quality, innovative, responsive and professional campus tour program that caters to a diverse group of
approximately 20,000+ prospective students, their families and other visitors each year. While the Manager, On-Campus Recruitment is situated within the ISI and has primary responsibility for prospective international students, the weekly campus tours program must be designed to serve all visiting audiences, including domestic and international prospective undergraduate students. The responsibilities include:
- Oversight for designing all programming and operational aspects of in-person, live virtual and group tours offered 1-3 times per day, 6-7 days per week, throughout the year.
- Responsible for researching and implementing most effective student-to-student recruiting approaches with the aim of helping to meet the university's international undergraduate student enrolment targets.
- Identifying and fostering good working relationships with key internal partners including each of the undergraduate admitting faculties and their academic advising offices, as well as with other units to negotiate opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and synergies, such as with Alumni, Ceremonies and Events, Student Housing and Community Services, etc.
- Responsible for developing a tour route that minimizes risk to visitors and student staff. Builds capacity in Student Ambassadors, Senior Student Ambassadors, and International Recruitment Assistants to handle emergency situations with support from emergency services, campus security, and campus tours staff. Liaises with Campus Security and Risk Management regarding training, workshops, etc.

- Provides assistance to the Director in designing and implementing multi-day tour programs for international guidance counsellors, agents, or partners for both of UBC's campuses. Provides overall guidance and direction for a cross-campus team of ISI colleagues, liaising with key internal stakeholders in faculties on both campuses to ensure visiting guidance counsellors, agents, and partners experience the best that UBC has to offer and return home eager to recommend UBC to their outstanding students.
- Establishes partnerships with external organizations to promote UBC as an attractive conference destination for young leaders and emerging scholars.
- Initiates development and implementation of other on-campus programs for US and international guidance counsellors, as well as for counsellors and others working with prospective international students studying at Canadian high schools and colleges.
