**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Reporting directly to the President, the VP, Academic is the senior academic executive of the college who provides leadership and strategic direction to the vision, strategy, policy framework and management of the college’s academic operations. Advancing the college’s Strategic and Academic Plans, and supporting the associated frameworks, the VP, Academic will champion academic excellence and innovation while also integrating college services to achieve the priorities and long-range plans of the institution. The incumbent will support and inspire the development of new programs, adhere to quality initiatives and encourage collaboration and innovative learning opportunities for students and employees. They are accountable for advancing the quality, delivery and attainment of the college’s applied research activities and agenda. The VP, Academic will foster a culture of creativity and evidence-informed practice, leading innovative approaches in programming, including the establishment, development and integration of applied research within programs, as well as expanding alternate and flexible learning opportunities at the college. The incumbent will continue to advance the college’s work focused on Indigeneity and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging. They will participate in the overall leadership and management of the college in collaboration as a member of the executive team. The incumbent will work regularly with Ontario Tech University leadership, as well as other post-secondary institutions on academic matters and activities that benefit students.
- Participates in the development and implementation of the college’s Academic Plan and supports and monitors the achievement of the academic objectives within the college’s Strategic Plan.
- Provides leadership and direction for academic programs and services.
- Accountable for the overall quality of the college’s academic programs.
- Responsible for the human, financial and physical resources as they relate to the academic portfolio.
- Advances community and industry partnerships through projects, articulation agreements and program advisory committees.
- Actively participates as a cohesive and collaborative member of the executive team to make resource management decisions and participate in a wide range of operational decisions that affect the college’s current and future effectiveness and financial sustainability.
- As the primary academic resource to the Board of Governors, lead the creation, review and updating of academic programming recommendations to the Board, congruent with accreditation bodies, laws and regulations.
- Fosters excellence across the academic Faculties, departments and programs.
- Promotes and nurtures consistency and collaboration amongst internal and external networks through ongoing communication.
