**Position Description**:
**Digital Design Specialist**

AboutKidsHealth is a small, multidisciplinary consumer health informatics team that develops a wide range of projects, from patient education materials, including individual brochures and handouts, to large online resources. As a Digital Design Specialist, you will work on a team consisting of health-care professionals, writers, an illustrator, animator, videographer, and web developers to create health education materials for caregivers, youth and children.

The Digital Design Specialist will work directly with the technical team to execute the website design, and to adjust and create templates. They will work with the technical team to maintain and evolve the direction of the website. The Digital Design Specialist will design assets for website content, product launches, promotables and all collateral material. The Digital Design Specialist will source stock photos and edit them as needed.

- Websites_
- Design and create mockups for webpages and websites, including design documentation and creating visual assets as required
- Maintain the digital design system for AboutKidsHealth, including branding and design guidelines.
- Analyze the current site design to identify gaps where the user experience could be improved to better meet the needs of the target audience.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand and define requirements and to conduct user testing.
- Ensure that designs uphold UI/UX best practices and meet WCAG/AODA requirements.
- Collaborate with web developers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately.
- Research, analyze data and conduct usability tests to inform design decisions when appropriate.
- Design and Illustration_
- Maintain and update branding and design guidelines to maintain the vision in all AboutKidsHealth products. Work with the AboutKidsHealth team to ensure the branding and design guidelines are present and adhered to in our writing, illustration, video and multi-media guidelines to ensure consistency.
- Scoping, planning and executing non-medical visual components of small to large projects.
- Create non-medical illustrations and other design-related deliverables such as infographics, milestone documents, patient pathways etc...
- Design and produce graphic elements for presentation and video templates. Collaborate and contribute to creation of individual presentation and video projects to customize design and to source and place images.
- Design and produce AboutKidsHealth marketing and promotable content such as the e-newsletter, sliders, social media headers, conference material, posters, bookmarks etc¿.to be used online and in print.
- Accountable for the quality, consistency and accuracy of design and illustration work produced.
- Through research of cultural and typographic design conventions, designs material for a multilingual audience.

**Here¿s What You¿ll Need**

**Essential**
- Degree/diploma, certification and/or experience with graphic and website design.
- Advanced ability with industry-standard software products such as Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, WCAG/AODA.
- Ability to combine strong visual communication skills (design skills, knowledge of patient education strategies) and technical knowledge (using specialty software, including web authoring tools).
- Superior time management skills with the ability to prioritize and effectively manage both planned and unexpected developments and opportunities.
- Ability to maintain strong and amicable working relationships
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

**Assets**
- Experience with wireframe and prototyping products such as Sketch, Invision or Figma.
- Advanced ability with Microsoft Office products.
- Understand the challenges that may arise when developing material for a multilingual audience, as care must be taken
