As an Associate, Centralized Governance & Controls, you will report to the Director, Centralized Governance and Controls (CGC) to ensure all governance & controls activities for Capital Markets are fulfilled. In addition, you'll assist with CIBC bank-wide projects and centralized processes.

You'll be responsible to prioritize and facilitate the approval of time-sensitive one-off transaction requests by engaging appropriate stakeholders. You'll act as a liaison between product initiative sponsors and stakeholders including Risk Management, Finance, Operations, Regulatory Change Management, Technology teams, etc. to expediently address and resolve issues and inquiries. It will be your responsibility to manage and track the product initiative life cycle from submission to prioritization, testing and obtaining approvals. You’ll participate in status update meetings with stakeholders and update and generate slides for meetings as required. You'll also identify ways to automate and streamline processes by leveraging automation, including the use of macros or computer coding languages, including but not limited to SQL and Java.

- Project Management: You’ll support the Line of Business (LOB) on CIBC-wide project implementation, including the development of policy / procedures, development of project plans, business requirements, executive presentations, and training materials. You’ll also be expected to lead and facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to work towards a project plan with key milestones, to subsequently be socialized with executives. You'll also assist with the management of records, using approved repositories and ensuring the businesses are in adherence with company policy.
- Executive Reporting: You’ll support in developing materials and reporting to provide valuable insights to the Capital Markets executive team, by aggregating data through the use of available tools (i.e. Microsoft Excel, macros, Power BI, etc.).
- Audit, Reviews and Deficiency Management: You’ll assist with deficiency management oversight by supporting the team with aggregating reporting data, facilitating meetings with deficiency owners, working with businesses to identify solutions for an action plan and drafting and/or reviewing documentation for submission to Risk Management and other stakeholders.
- Ad-hoc Centralized Processes support: You’ll support the greater Capital Markets business by helping to act as delegated support for functions such as tracking employee completion of CIBC’s Mandatory Training Program, facilitating the delivery of mandatory compliance trainings, tracking mandated risk leave and assisting as the single point of contact for all escalated matters including privacy incidents and client complaints.
- Cross-Functional Relationships: This position interacts with partners inside and outside CGC including liaising on a regular basis with individuals in the various Capital Markets Lines of Business and other CIBC Strategic Business Units, the broader Capital Markets Chief Administrative Office, as well as infrastructure partners (e.g. Global Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Privacy Office, Audit), regarding CIBC’s governance and control initiatives and programs.
