**Who we are recruiting for**:
**Daily responsibilities**:
Reporting to the CEO you will,
- Oversee all accounting operations which include setting up and maintaining reporting systems, implementing and maintaining internal controls, processes and policies
- Maintain a dedication to developing best practices in corporate governance through creating, monitoring, enforcing and adhering to internal controls and systems
- Supervise the accounting staff on day to day operations including, but not limited to, month/year end close, accounts receivable & payable, financial reports, invoicing, cash receipts and disbursements, and loan draw requests
- Timely preparation of the annual year-end financial statements, tax returns, partnership information returns and other regulatory filings for the corporate group
- Manage and monitor the organization’s cash flow and real estate development capital needs, including organizing partner cash calls when required
- Creation and ongoing updates of project proforma’s
- Oversee organizational budgeting, accounting and cash management to ensure accurate reporting, interpretation and analysis of financial results in conjunction with forecasts and long range plans
- Lead procurement and closing of land, construction and term financing, manage renewals and ongoing compliance, and maintain effective working relationships with lending partners
- Assist ownership with the procurement and closing of equity financing, including ongoing partner and investor reporting
- Manage the HR process (HR policies, prepare offer letters, assist with onboarding, benefits administration, vacation and sick day tracking)
- Preparation of semi-monthly payroll.
- Manage, train, and mentor a small accounting and finance team
- Review key legal agreements, including but not limited to, loan documents, lease agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and partnership agreements
- Maintenance of corporate structure including setting up and winding down entities as required
- Lead acquisition of new projects including financial analysis, structuring, due diligence, and acquisition closing
- Work with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop strategies to ensure that the organization has the financial resources needed to achieve its current and future goals, while mitigating financial and operational risk.
- Other tasks as assigned by the CEO

**Experience/skills required**:

- Professional finance and/or accounting designation (MBA, CFA, CPA)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a senior finance role with a privately held real estate development company with ideally some years of public practice experience
- Strong understanding of real estate development and construction accounting including CCDC contract forms and the builders’ lien legislation
- Experience with raising capital for real estate
- Knowledge of employment standards and HR processes
- Knowledge of retail accounting and inventory management an asset
- Mandarin speaking an asset
- Experience with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) an asset
