**SALARY RANGE: $23.14 - $27.22 per hour**

The Ward Clerk performs receptionist and clerical duties on the Inpatient Unit, to enhance the efficiency of workflow including flow of patients and communication and information sharing in and between units. Provides relief to Emergency Clerk / Switchboard.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Office Administration certificate required
- 2 years related experience within the past 5 years or 2 years Ward Clerk experience.

**EFFORT**:

- Minimal Physical Effort
- High degree of mental effort and analysis

**POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS**:

- Processing admissions and discharges. Preparing assignment sheets.
- Linking sending or receiving staff or MRP to appropriate nurse for transfer of information.
- Answering telephones, faxing referrals, prescriptions.
- Connecting with consultants, Criticall or other organizations as required for patient care.
- Arranging patient transfers: booking ambulance or transfer service. Getting patient transfer number. Preparing information package.
- Stocking and maintaining patient charts.
- Ordering telephones and T.V.s for patients.
- Staffing calls as appropriate
- Keeping the nurses station organized
- Admitting, discharging patients in cerner system.
- Booking appts. out of the hospital and arranging Family meetings

**HOURS OF WORK: 0**800 to 1400 daily

**Job Type**: Casual

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
