**Our Water Services Department is seeking a Quality Control Business Coordinator who will conduct specialized work in monitoring, coordinating and recommending business practices for the Interagency Projects and Quality Control Division. The role includes the management of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and plans for future LIMS and other software system needs. Another key responsibility is the maintenance of Metro Vancouver’s Quality Management System for Drinking Water.**

**This role**:

- Coordinates divisional business practices to maximize efficiency; reviews and recommends divisional performance indicators; maintains, develops, recommends, implements, coordinates and monitors a divisional training management system.
- Coordinates divisional resources for the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); ensures that day to day business requirements are met; establishes business goals and makes recommendations to superiors; plans for future LIMS and other software system needs; monitors corporate information technology and recommends adaptation to divisional business systems as appropriate; monitors progress of system enhancement projects.
- Maintains awareness of developing laboratory related business practices and recommends implementation of new practices and systems; identifies IT dependencies and assures their inclusion in the annual budget.
- Serves as divisional contact for departmental and corporate initiatives such as asset management and continuous improvement; represents the division in inter-divisional/-departmental work groups concerning business issues.
- Coordinates the preparation of the division’s annual budget and tri-annual reports; maintains an on-going review of all program expenditures; identifies and reports anomalies and negative trends to superiors and recommends corrective measures.
- Prepares reports on miscellaneous business related items and issues; coordinates the development of content for the division’s intranet home page.
- Coordinates the contracting out of laboratory work for external clients through the established purchasing process; obtains quotes and reviews bids; determines work to be contracted out and coordinates with internal staff to ensure quality of data received from external laboratories.
- Supervises, directs and oversees the work of the LIMS Specialist.
- Performs related work as required.

**To be successful, you have**:

- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or similar discipline, including or supplemented by training in the use of computer software such as LIMS and considerable related experience including some supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Considerable knowledge of divisional operational plans and programs.
- Considerable knowledge of the capabilities of divisional business systems.
- Considerable knowledge of applicable departmental and corporate initiatives.
- Ability to monitor departmental business practices, conduct reviews and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ability to monitor the divisional budget, identify negative trends and recommend corrective measures.
- Ability to prepare operational plans and reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and to provide specialized advice to senior staff.
- Ability to supervise, direct and oversee the work of one or more subordinates.
- Ability to achieve assigned objectives with a minimum of supervision.
- Valid Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
