**Temporary Assignment - approximately 52 weeks**

**UNIT PROFILE**:
The Concurrent Disorders Outpatient Program provides care to persons aged 17 and older presenting with severe and persistent mental illness and active substance use/dependency.

An integrated care model ensures a seamless integration of psychiatric and substance abuse interventions. The **Emerging Adults Substance Use Program** is a new stream within the existing Concurrent Disorders Program, providing clinical intervention to individuals ages 17-25.

This position will involve work in both office and community
- based settings.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Degree/Diploma in Nursing (RN) or Social Work (BSW or MSW) or Occupational Therapy **OR **current registration in good standing with the College of Psychotherapists with a Degree in a health-related discipline required
- Current registration in good standing with a related regulated health professional college required
- Completion of a certificate program in addictions/concurrent disorders from an accredited educational institution preferred
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience providing specialized treatment to individuals ages 17-25 required
- 3 years related clinical experience in an addiction/concurrent disorder setting preferred
- 1-year experience in program development preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of individual counseling and group skills (ie DBT, MI, CBT, Behavioral Activation)
- Demonstrated ability to complete comprehensive assessments, develop and implement client centered integrated treatment plans in collaboration with other involved service providers within the hospital and community
- Demonstrated knowledge of the stages of change model and strong skills in the utilization of Motivational Interviewing
- Demonstrated competence in the facilitation of addictions/concurrent disorder treatment groups
- Demonstrated experience working with a harm reduction model including the provision of Naloxone
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing formal and informal support to family members
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to access formal and informal community services and resources
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- CPI-Crisis Prevention Training (or successful completion as part of clinical orientation) required
- Demonstrated track record of providing leadership in building the organization’s capacity for delivering a hospital wide evidence-based concurrent disorder strategy

**Concurrent Disorders-specific Qualifications**:

- Completion of a certificate program in addictions/concurrent disorders from an accredited educational institution preferred
- Completion of the Certificate Program in Intensive Tobacco Cessation Counselling (TEACH) preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of the stages of change model and ability to utilize stage specific interventions
- Demonstrated competence in the facilitation of addictions/concurrent disorder groups (relapse prevention)
- Demonstrated ability to administer addiction specific screening tools (ie. CAGE-AID, GAIN Short Screener, DALI, TWEAK, MAST/DAST)
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement integrated treatment plans (related to relapse prevention and harm reduction) in collaboration with other involved service providers within the hospital and community
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to access formal and informal community services and resources
- Demonstrated track record of providing leadership in building the organization’s capacity for delivering a hospital wide evidence-based concurrent disorder strategy
- Experience in leading case formulation, case conferences and providing clinical supervision
- Experience in supporting multi-disciplinary teams in learning and integrating evidence based practices for screening, assessing, and treating concurrent disorders
- Ability to provide clinical consultation through the demonstration of therapeutic techniques and interventions specific to concurrent disorders

**HOURS OF WORK**:
Monday to Friday; days and afternoons.
