**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Executive Director, Advocacy, the incumbent will undertake research, analysis and writing on legal issues to support the advocacy work of the Canadian Bar Association. Subjects will range from judicial appointments, to intersectional data in the legal profession, to public legal information.

**Languages**

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)

**Compensation**

$ 19.24/hour

**Responsibilities**

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

- Legal research and analysis: conducts research on legislation, regulations, case law and statistics on the legal profession, judiciary and select legal topics.
- Legal writing: summarizes and synthesizes legal research by writing and editing briefs, memos or other written materials.
- Collaboration: communicates and engages with staff, members and stakeholders
- Participates in remote (virtual) meetings as required

**Qualifications**
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyze data, working knowledge of legal research platforms
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Keen eye for detail
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to take direction, work independently, plan, organize and prioritize workloads

**Education**
- Successful completion of at least one year of a JD, LLL or LLB program at an accredited law school.
