POSITION DESCRIPTION

**Position**: Environmental Technician

**Location**: Scotia Mine, Cooks Brook, Nova Scotia, Canada

**Background**

The Scotia Mine is located 62 kilometers northeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Year-round access to the mine is by paved highway roads and is approximately 15 kilometers off the Nova Scotia provincial highway along Route #224. The Scotia Mine is a permitted Zinc, Lead and Gypsum mine and mill which are owned by a wholly owned subsidiary of EDM Resources Inc.

**1.0 Position Goal**

**2.0 Responsibilities**
- You will be working as part of a team performing field work (sampling/monitoring, field evaluations, data collection, etc.).
- Assist with GIS and mapping.
- Create and distribute information for the site on environmental awareness including standard operating practices, environmental orientation documents, and environmental management plans.
- Perform instrument calibration.
- Log, ship and prepare samples.
- Assist with data interpretation/input.
- Organize and record all field and laboratory data.
- Support in implementing environmental management plans.
- Daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual monitoring and associated data management and reporting.
- Assist with establishment of new monitoring programs associated with the mine restart.

**3.0 Qualifications**
- Previous experience in the resource sector is considered an asset.
- Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
- Experience using GIS software.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a group.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and carry out tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Time management expertise.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to problem solve and show resourcefulness.

**4.0 Work Conditions**:
Reports to the Environmental and Community Coordinator. This position will be based out of the Scotia Mine Limited mine site in Cooks Brook, Nova Scotia.
