Reporting to the Executive Director Facilities Management, the Director Operations plays a key role in bringing Georgian's ambitious vision for student-centered innovation to life. Working cross-functionally, the incumbent will collaborate closely with academic and student services leadership to re-imagine how spaces can best support evolving teaching and learning needs.

The Director Operations is a pivotal role which is accountable for shaping the strategic direction of the College's physical campuses and infrastructure to deliver "unrivaled experiences".

The Director Operations is responsible for delivering facilities services while leading diverse teams in addition to blending both tactical, day-to-day delivery of services with strategic partner communications and relationship management. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
**Key Leadership Responsibilities**:
**Strategic Planning**
- Facilities master planning, capital project management and strategic partnership development.
- Develops and implements multi-year infrastructure and equipment plan, including replacement plan.
- Researches, negotiates, and enters into contracts which have broad financial implications for the college i.e. building systems and maintenance, snow removal, grounds maintenance, pest control, waste disposal, cleaning services
- Engages as a strategic partner and provides executive and college wide communications

**Leadership and Management**
- Financial oversight, human resources management, performance management, change leadership.
- Maintains a high level of performance through effective recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating, and providing feedback to staff.
- Provides training and professional development opportunities for staff to ensure evolving skills are available in the department to deliver on College wide initiatives.
- Monitors and supports performance management process as required.
- Supports college values of accessibility, equity, and diversity.
- Develops team, fosters team building and provides mentorship.

**Operations Management**
- Accountable for compliance and health & safety metrics
- Develops, implements, and monitors facilities operational budgets for buildings and grounds. (approx. of $10 million)
- Works collaboratively with the Executive Director, direct reports, and planning team to develop and advance the facilities management operational plan.
- Compiles, analyses, and maintains statistical data/reports of department operations using computer and web-based systems.
- Ensures a safe environment by promoting and coordinating the Health and Safety work functions of persons engaged in engineering and maintenance activities.
- Establishes a positive healthy, and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations. Fosters an environment that supports teamwork, empowerment, and accountability of staff.
- Directs the development of college-wide maintenance and operating needs, plans for scheduled and deferred maintenance, and maintenance activities to provide continuous operations.

**Innovation and Process Improvement**
- Focuses on continuous improvement, identifying efficiencies and championing new technologies for the department.
- Identifies and facilitates college wide process improvements across all campuses. The incumbent is responsible for identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, assess issues, make recommendations to senior administration and lead teams to implement process improvements.
- Acts as an agent of change facilitating the identification and adoption of emerging trends impacting facilities and the college that may position Georgian as a leader.

**Contract Management**
- Emphasis on procurement, vendor relationships, contract performance tracking.
- Directs the development of bid specifications and bid evaluation matrices.
- Engages with the college’s purchasing division to ensure best value for the college.
- Develops a contract review schedule and performance metrics for all facility.
- Management services contracts.
- Ensures construction, contracted services, and goods are procured in accordance with BPS directives.
- Ensures the effective management and evaluation of contract service providers.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successfully completed a three-year postsecondary diploma in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering, trades, or related field.
