**Job Summary**

The role of Expert Release Management is to integrate delivery of each release across all Operational Technology (OT) teams, from Product Management, Architecture, Designs and Test. This role ensures service introduction in the least disruptive manner for the CN’s rail operation. This is a technical role who supervises all OT work packages involving a matrix of at least 500 FTEs who are working on functional enhancements, technical evolution, and Safety & RAM remediation and roll-out of changes into the field. This role is also responsible to lead cross-project dependencies and overlap to reduce risks for successful go-lives. The role is critical to secure full adherence to Systems Engineering Development Process (SEDP) frame for applied engineering and mission critical systems.
Understanding System engineering and interacting with different level inside the organization to provide advice related to release management and best practices are key for this role.

**Main Responsibilities**

**Release Planning**

Work in collaboration with the product management team to ensure the scope properly defined for each release.
Work in collaboration with the project managers, and the project teams to make sure the projects life cycle follows the release plan.
Confirm delivery model: who is accountable of which part of delivery (overall delivery integration accountability, architecture authority, design authority, test strategy authority. Close any unresolved items with parties involved, if any, prior to kick-off
Confirm support model: who will be accountable of all layers of support: close all unresolved items with parties involved, if any, prior to kick-off
Owns commitment process to content, timeline, and resources commitment from all teams involved, including OT, Business, I&T and vendors.
Communication management of release content.
Secure rigorous process adherence and adherence to SEDP frame for applied engineering and mission critical systems (development V-Model and Agile).
Secure earned value for committed for the respective release cycle.

**Release Governance**

Execute and maintain kick-off process for each release, ensuring full adherence to SEDP
Define and maintain progress management process with all parties.
Oversee system and sub-systems dependencies, issues and risks identification, mitigation and resolution, leadership recommendation.
Lead scope management process for release in progress
Assess impact of any change on release scope, in collaboration with Product Managers, Business & OT/IT Teams
Maintain and improve the release reporting process
Maintain velocity and performance metrics for overall release
Identify and Lead improvements linked to the release management process

**Requirements**:
Education/Certification/Designation
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field.

Skills/Knowledge
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
Master communication skills: with leadership and technical teams.
Experience working with V- model Systems Engineering methodologies, and Iterative Agile Methodology.
Delivery experience in a Product Engineering or Service operation
Problem solving methodology approach
Customer service experience and mindset.
Bilingual (French and English)
PMP or Prince certification is an asset
Proven successful track record using Agile methodology
Excellent business acumen

**Experience**

Minimum 10-15 years overall work experience (including in Project, Program and Portfolio Management, in system integration of a complex high availability Applied Engineering solutions and in extensive delivery experience in a system-engineering framework, for high availability mission critical systems).

Minimum 5 years demonstrating technical leadership qualities and/or overseeing deliverables (including experience in a leadership role with impact of minimum 100 resources)
