**SUMMARY**:The Manager will oversee the daily operations of Language Assessment Services - York, Simcoe, Durham, including the Achev site in Richmond Hill, 11 regular itinerant sites, ad hoc itinerant service sites and online/hybrid services. The Manager will provide direct leadership to LAC coordinators and their teams and work collaboratively with Achev management, community partners, and funders to facilitate optimal service coordination with the York/Simcoe and Durham Language Training Partnerships, The Welcome Centres, and other stakeholders.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage daily operations at assessment sites in conjunction with Achev operations staff and others
- Work collaboratively across teams to support a OneAchev mindset and culture
- Ensure smooth work flow and exceptional customer service to clients, community partners and colleagues
- Assist Director with budget and cashflow forecast development and tracking
- Supervise and coach the coordinating supervisors
- Produce regular narrative reports, gather and chart statistics and provide other reports (including year-end report); assist with proposals as needed
- Identify and implement enhancements to the language assessment booking system (online & in-person)
- Ensure compliance with language assessment and Achev protocols and procedures
- Manage and support LAC coordinators with the process of recruitment and training
- Facilitate employee goal-setting and conduct performance reviews of direct reports, including LAC Coordinators and Community Liaison
- Facilitate regular team meetings and provide updates at all-staff meetings
- Identify/implement initiatives to foster and maintain positive team morale and skills development and align with the OneAchev culture and values
- Provide training re in-person and online procedures and policies specific to CLARS (Coordinated Language Assessment & Referral System)
- Ensure that staff adhere to site
- specific and organization-wide safety regulations and other mandatory procedures
- Communicate matters to Director in a timely fashion based on degree of importance, seeking advice as needed
- Effectively communicate with, and support, language training partners to ensure cohesive delivery of services to clients
- Attend York/Simcoe and Durham quarterly language provider meetings, present LAC updates and chair meetings as needed
- Participate in various community-based meetings and committees as requested
- Coordinate and implement a promotional/outreach plan and review annually
- Conduct evaluation/feedback processes to ensure opportunities for client comments and review/implementation of suggestions where viable
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary diploma/degree in related field - e.g. adult learning and second language acquisition, communications, psychology, teaching etc.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in government-funded client services environment.
- Minimum 2 years of program/project management experience; supervising multiple teams; coordinating client services
- Language assessment experience/certification and/or TESL certification an asset
- Experience in using Microsoft Office; Excel, cashflows, budget management
- Knowledge of the language assessment process, the Canadian Language Benchmarks, CLARS, and the HARTS database preferred
- Knowledge of language training options, assessment eligibility, and language training providers in York, Simcoe and Durham is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to support, coach, and motivate others in a collaborative team environment
- Experience and sensitivity in working with persons of diverse backgrounds
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to problem solve and employ professional judgment
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills including demonstrated presentation and public speaking skills
- Understanding of client confidentiality and data security issues
- Valid driver’s licence, access to own transportation, and willingness to travel to various locations throughout York, Simcoe, Durham, and other Achev regions as needed
