JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
- Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications.
- Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required, and the work does not exceed own limitations.
- Position, join, align, and quartz and granite components.
- Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces.
- Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
- Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, structural drawings, rough sketches, and specifications to determine work activities.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
- Enter workflow status in Moraware software.
- Keep a daily log of activity requiring management’s attention.
- Respect and respond to direction given by management.
- Ensure an adequate supply of material is available for preventative maintenance program.
- Clean and prepare Shop to eliminate possible hazards.
- Understand and comply with all Policies and Procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**MUST HAVE**:

- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Effective time management skills
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision
- Receptive to change - can adapt to changing circumstances
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect
- Avoid unnecessary conflict
- Basic computer literacy skills
- Encompass a positive attitude and solid work ethic

**NICE TO HAVE**:

- One (1) year of experience as a Water Polisher, or in equivalent construction related field, is desirable
- Currently working in the trade
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others
- Bilingual (Fluent in English and French)

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Exposure to water, cold, heat and humidity
- Regularly works near moving mechanical and exposure to dust and fumes
- Job requires ability to work with tools, lumber and materials
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects is required
- Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object
- Hazards associated with the construction industry
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (safety boots, protective eyewear)
