Scarborough, Canada Julliette's Place (Homeward Family Shelter) Full time

**Position**: (One (1) year Contract starting January 1, 2025 tentatively ending December 31, 2025), but has a strong potential for extension of contract or turning into a permanent role.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Support and Service:
¨ Advocates for children and mothers in the social/justice community

¨ Completes intake and assessments of children and mothers

¨ Provides crisis support and counselling to children and their mothers

¨ Provides accompaniment to mothers and children

¨ Provides information and referral to community supports and services

¨ Provides practical assistance, support, and training to children and mothers on non
- violent approaches to discipline and parenting

¨ Provides ex-resident support to children and mothers as needed

¨ Plans and implements in-house programs for children and mothers

¨ Works in cooperation with Women’s Advocates regarding case management

¨ Conflict mediation/resolution

¨ In consultation with the supervisor, develops and implements the children’s program manual

¨ Ensures the health and safety of all shelter residents

Social Justice, Community Education, and Outreach:
¨ Active participation in community coalitions

¨ Active participation in in-house committees as required

¨ Public speaking and education as assigned

¨ Liaisons with school, daycare centers, and other community resources

Administration:
¨ Maintains accurate children’s files

¨ Completes all shelter documentation pertaining to the position

¨ Maintains accurate service statistics

¨ Other report writing as required

General:
¨ Works co-operatively as a member of the shelter staff team

¨ Attends regular team meetings, staff training sessions, and other planned meetings/events

¨ Regularly attends supervision sessions with the direct supervisor

¨ Supervises placements of students and volunteers as required

¨ Other duties as required which facilitate the efficient operation of the organization

**MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS**:
¨ ECE Diploma from a recognized institute and three (3) or more years of direct work experience in a related setting, or degree directly related to the position and two (2) or more years of direct work experience

¨ Experience working with children and women in the areas of violence, poverty, and homelessness

¨ Demonstrated commitment to the eradication of violence, homelessness, and all other forms of oppression

¨ Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and insurance

¨ Valid Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening completed (Criminal Reference Check needs to be updated every 3 years after employment as per Funder)

¨ Second language is a strong asset

¨ Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate required (shall be kept current)

Note: Medical Clearance and Functional Abilities Assessment are required for this position.

Pay: $26.67 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
