Olcastle APG Canada West is seeking a qualified individual to join their operations team as the primary production and financial analyst and will be located at the head office for Western Canada in Acheson, AB.

**Job Summary**:
The Financial Analyst will report directly to the VP Operations and will be an integral part of the operations team. They will provide timely and insightful analysis of historic and current information to explain the performance of the operations teams in six locations across Western Canada. They will provide insight to financial variances and trends in revenue and expenditures, and provide accurate information to enhance various planning processes. They will ensure that the senior leadership has accurate and timely information that provides a solid foundation for the decision-making process.

Typical role responsibilities include but are not limited to:
**Production Planning**:

- Development and maintenance of a strategic and scientific methodology for both long-term and short-term production planning (winter build and weekly inventory shortages)
- Schedule production targets for 6 production facilities across Western Canada
- Production cost minimization through location and volume planning

**Inventory Management and Analysis**:

- Monitor and evaluate historic sales trends for production planning
- Excess & obsolescence inventory monitoring, planning, and liquidation as required

**Operational Analysis and Trend Identification of**:

- Plant purchases
- Intercompany freight
- Production labour optimization (shift length, planned overtime, etc.)
- Bill of Materials validation
- Assist in expense planning and forecasting:

- Maintenance
- Customer materials deposit return planning (pallets)
- Raw materials expense analysis and alternative evaluation
- Depreciation planning
- Intercompany freight tracking and minimization
- Monthly manufacturing standards variance analysis
- Assist site managers with weekly financial performance forecast (flash)
- Identify and explain variances from manufacturing standards
- Identify efficiencies in the manufacturing process

**Asset Management**:

- Capital and fixed asset planning and evaluation including financial analysis and viability of proposed projects
- Administer Cap-Ex submission and monitoring
- Financial tracking for capital and large projects
- Accurately maintain capital asset lists, progress/status

**Requirements**:

- Certificate or degree in a related field such as inventory management, finance, or statistical analysis would be considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in financial analysis in a manufacturing setting or strict operations role
- Ability to communicate across a multidisciplinary team including operations, finance, and purchasing
- A proactive, forward-thinking individual that can discover opportunities for cost and efficiency improvement
- Liaise with both senior management manufacturing management and staff to understand and explain various operations and financial principles
- Understanding of operations management principles consistent with two years in an operations environment or supervisory role
- Ability to travel periodically throughout North America (5-10%)
