The gears in your brain are always churning up game-changing, innovative ideas to drive efficiencies and make impactful change, and you’ve got the project and construction management expertise to design and execute comprehensive plans that bring your grand ideas to life. You have always had a keen eye on building retrofits and how simple changes and envelope first methodologies can dramatically reduce emissions while at the same time improving customer comfort. You’re a natural leader who can engage stakeholders, coordinate efforts across departments and empower your partners so that every project phase goes off without a hitch. With your skillset and experience, you’d fit right in as our Program Manager, Retrofit Construction Projects.

Joining our Conservation and Energy Management department, you’ll develop, implement, maintain and execute the construction phase of the deep energy retrofit pilots for existing buildings as well as other related programs and projects as assigned including supporting the development of a full-scale energy efficiency program offering.

You’ve set the gold standard for delivering multi-stakeholder projects on time, on budget and within scope because you proactively identify project barriers and creative solutions to overcome challenges along the way. You’re drive and dedication to constantly push the boundaries for what’s possible is what truly makes your ideas shine, and we know you’ll translate that energy into shaping the future of energy efficiency and building retrofits for our customers. In year 1, you will:
Develop rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Review, coordinate and manage the implementation and construction of multiple deep energy retrofit projects across both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings and ensure it meets planned timelines, budget and scope.
Engage, respond and facilitate response to construction related inquiries and troubleshooting related to the envelope and mechanical upgrades.
Identify and evaluate building retrofit solutions that are not commonly used in British Columbia and can directly or indirectly result in significant reductions of energy use and emissions or significantly more efficient use of energy.
Expand your knowledge of innovative DSM technology solutions, and become familiar with our customer base and strategic vision.
Meet challenges head-on while determining who needs to be involved with decisions, and how to best execute, document and communicate the necessary changes. In year 2, you will:
Continue to execute construction retrofit plans.
Fine-tune the development cycle to increase participation and customer satisfaction.
Streamline operations within the framework of program terms and conditions and internal quality standards.
Become an industry expert by developing extensive networks with all market actors to drive the adoption of DSM innovative technologies.
Spearhead efficiencies to improve the execution of current and future projects.
Identify new natural gas DSM technologies and lead its advancement in the market. What it takes:
A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Management, Engineering or related discipline from a recognized program, plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience with demonstrated success. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience in project and/or construction management. Project Management Professional or Certified Energy Manager designations or graduates from Masters in Engineering Leadership (MEL) - High Performance Building program from UBC would be an asset.
Experience with delivering and communicating DSM programs and experience working in a regulated utility would be an asset.
Knowledge of building science, building envelope and construction management.
Knowledge of building energy systems such as HVAC, boilers and heat pumps.
A proven track record in designing and delivering successful multi-stakeholder projects on time, budget and within scope.
Excels when leading a team and working independently to successfully execute projects.
