**OVERVIEW**

The Chrysalis Café is open daily, 10 am to 5 pm, and operates within Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory. The Chrysalis Café offers daytime lunch service, light snacks, and beverages to visitors and groups.

The Café Supervisor will oversee kitchen operations while also taking the lead role in customer service and food preparation. The Café Supervisor will often work independently, but will also lead a small team of cafe staff during peak dining times.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- FOOD SERVICE AND FOOD PREPARATION_
- Independently manage all daily operations (including but not limited to cooking & food preparation, bussing tables, dishwashing, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, customer service)
- Greet customers, receive customer orders, process point of sale transactions
- Maintain high level of food quality and customer satisfaction
- Monitor daily equipment temperature and cleaning logs and schedule and arrange maintenance as needed
- Liaise with food and service vendors as necessary, monitor inventory and process food and supply orders
- Maintain a tidy and clean workspace, comply with government food safety and health & safety standards
- MANAGERIAL/ADMINISTRATIVE_
- Demonstrate strong leadership and perform well under pressure
- Train and monitor cafe employee performance and provide feedback when necessary
- Comply with and update Standard Operating Procedures as needed
- Develop Menus, document recipes and food costs
- Conduct routine cost analyses and develop sales strategies for increasing revenue, decreasing expenses and developing new revenue streams
- Develop operating budget and outline future equipment needs. Operate within budget parameters
- Other duties as required

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- 3+ years of experience working in a commercial kitchen or related industry
- Management and/or supervisory experience an asset
- Strong customer service skills, communication skills and high level of organization and attention to detail
- Flexible and able to work under pressure
- Willing to work weekends
- Able and willing to do physical labour (i.e. moving tables, chairs, equipment and crates/boxes of food)
- Valid Food Safety Certificate
- Criminal Reference Check

**HOURS OF WORK**

This is a full-time indefinite-term position. The shifts are typically from 9 am to 5 pm on both weekdays and weekends. The schedule for this position is Wednesday through Sunday.

**COMPENSATION & BENEFITS**

The rate of pay is expected to be between $50,000 - $55,000 per year. CBC offers an Employee Assistance Program to all employees. This role will be eligible for CBC’s Health Benefits and matching RRSP program after a probation period.
