**Position Summary**

The Kitchen Aide - Evenings is responsible for performing daily kitchen, dishes and dining room cleaning and sanitization to the highest hygiene standards. Supporting the Chef this position is required to assist with kitchen and dining room activities, including meal preparation and service delivery.

**Responsibilities**
- **Kitchen/Dining Room Cleaning**_
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing by sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, and polishing throughout the kitchen, cooler, storage, utility carts, appliances, dining rooms and other areas
- Participate in clean-up activities after meals, including: retrieving snacks, refreshments, dirty dishes, etc. from the dining room
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen dishes and dining room dishes
- **Food Services Operations**_
- Assist the Chef, Cook and/or Baker with the meal preparation and delivery by aiding in food preparation including washing, peeling, cutting, stirring and/or cooking, assisting with serving, preparing plates, monitoring steam tables and replenishing food levels
- Be an active member of the Kitchen Staff by communicating daily with the Chef, Cook and/or Baker regarding day-to-day food service operations, food preparation, efficiencies, faulty equipment, and the requirement of tools and supplies needed within the kitchen and dining room areas
- **Health, Safety and Environmental Stewardship**_
- Participate and contribute to the success of the overall safety program
- Support and abide by all safety management systems and promote a safety culture throughout the organization
- Participate and contribute to the overall safety of self and for others by safely performing required tasks and provide feedback when issues arise
- Respond to emergency situations as they arise providing appropriate follow-up and documentation as required
- Adhere to all manufacturer guidelines and safe work practices when using equipment
- Use Personal Protective Equipment and follow universal precautions
- Participate in worksite inspections, health & safety meetings and committees as required
- Contribute to the organization’s commitment to improving its impact on the environment through day-to-day operations and seeking innovative ways to be a greener organization

Undertake the performance of other assigned duties, including those specified on Job Task Lists, as required

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma is preferred
- One (1) year of previous experience in housekeeping, custodial, dishwashing, etc. environment is preferred
- Completion of a current and acceptable criminal records check for the vulnerable sector as required by the Protection for Persons in Care Act and the Accommodation Standards and Licensing Act is mandatory
- Attainment of a Food Safety Certificate is required
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and internet usage is required
- First Aid and CPR certification is required or must be attained soon after hire

**Working Conditions**
- Ongoing customer service interaction and communication with staff, site residents and visitors
- Ability to work alone during evenings for hours at a time
- Physical activity involving walking, standing, bending and lifting
- Exposure to high heat or cold temperatures. (Cooler, freezer, oven and stove)
- Must be able to lift, push and pull equipment and supplies in accordance with the position’s Physical Demands Analysis document
- Operation of kitchen equipment is required
- Must handle and work with various cleaning solvents and chemicals
- Shifts may change according to organizational needs and occasional overtime may be required
- Occasional exposure to unpleasant or abusive individuals

**Hours**
- 3:30pm - 12:00am
- 4 days on 4 days off rotation schedule including weekends and holidays

**Application Process**

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 28 per week

**Salary**: From $17.64 per hour
