**Position Title**: Food Recovery Employee

**Hours**: range of 6-20 hours per week.

**Starting Date**:. ASAP

**Rate of Pay**: $17.40/Hour

This position with Cranbrook Food Recovery will help decrease food waste in the community and put diverted food to its highest use. Cranbrook Food Recovery partners with local grocers and bakeries to recover edible food and divert it either to local food support agencies or local farmers. Cranbrook Food Recovery creates community meals, collaborates with other food rescue organizations, and helps decrease food costs for local social programs.
- Support volunteer team in their daily tasks
- Collect and record internal temperatures on coolers and freezers
- Track incoming and outgoing food online
- Determine equitable distribution of food according to daily amounts received
- Ensure food safe handling procedures and practices are followed
- Maintain the cleanliness of the food storage areas
- Assist with social media
- Maintain and/or develop relationships with current donors, clients, and local farmers

**Occasionally**:

- Complete pickups and drop-offs of donated food according to a daily schedule
- Sorts produce to its highest use
- Ensure basic maintenance, (washer fluid, clean windows, gas etc.)
- Monitor and alert management of any mechanical or other safety concerns
- Assist with various other food related tasks

**Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated experience working with mínimal supervision and with a team.
- Reliable, friendly, works well with others.
- Problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Able to repetitively lift loads of 50lbs.
- Ability to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment.
- An interest in food recovery is an asset

**Additional Requirements**
- Valid full driver’s license and be willing to provide a driver’s abstract.
- Food Safe level 1.
- Willing to submit a Criminal Record Check.
