Job Title: Provincial Reintegration Worker
Reports to: Executive Director
**Position is unionized as part of the MGEU**
**Purpose**:
The Provincial Reintegration Worker is to assist remand, provincially, and federally sentenced women with their reintegration needs. This includes Manitoba women who are returning to their home communities outside of Winnipeg.
**Primary**:
- Regularly meet with remanded and provincially sentenced women in the Winnipeg
Remand Center and Women’s Correctional Center
- Assist provincially and federally sentenced women in their release planning
- Provide short term individual support to Winnipeg women on release in the community
- Liaise with probation officers currently supervising women and provincial institution staff
- Refer community women to resources that meet their basic needs of food, clothing, and shelter
- Provide Indigenous cultural and/or spiritual care, employment, and literacy support
- Act as an Elizabeth Fry of Manitoba representative at various events, meetings, or with organizational partners
- Provide transportation for women newly released from custody and in the community
- Provide crisis and non-crisis support services to women

- Maintain telephone and electronic correspondence with federal institutions in the Prairie region, probation officers, Child and Family Services
- Ensure client files are up to date
- Maintain ongoing statistical information regarding remanded and provincially sentenced women
- Provide monthly statistical reports to the Executive Director
- Maintain the Food Hamper program, including weekly pick-ups from donor stores and emergency bag collections
**Interaction with the Public**:
- Interact professionally and empathetically with reintegration program participants on a regular basis
- Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse population on a variety of sensitive topics
**Physical Demands**:
- Ability to lift and carry over 15lbs
- Ability to actively listen to program participants and drop-in center participants and respond to needs as required with a high degree of empathy
- Some sitting at a desk looking at a screen for extended periods of time
- Ability to be on the go for the duration of a working shift
**Working Conditions and Environment**:
- Working environment includes an office setting at a desk, driving reintegration program participants within the community, and interacting within the community
- Ability to work flexible hours as necessary and as determined by the Executive Director
- Ability to work independently within the policies and procedures as outlined, while respecting the vision, mission, and core values of the agency
- Hazards may include contact with sharps, unknown substances, or cleaning agents
- There may be people or groups in crisis or stressful situations - a high degree of empathy and understanding is required
**Tools and Equipment**:
- Demonstrate the ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have access to a reliable vehicle
- Provided tools and equipment include office materials and a desk
**Knowledge and Skills**:
- Understanding and working knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Understanding of the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous women
- Analytical and problem-solving skills

- Leadership and organizational skills

**Education and Licensing**:
- Post-secondary Degree, or a combination of education and relevant experience
- Maintain a valid Manitoba Drivers’ License
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal record check and Child Abuse Registry check
- Additional education/certifications that can be obtained include First Aid, CPR training,
Naloxone training, suicide assistance, non-violence crisis intervention
**Experience**:
- 1+ year of relevant work or volunteer experience within a similar capacity
