Why is this role important?
- The Program Consultant will lead and contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the governance and corporate strategies activities at CIHI. They will provide secretariat support for CIHI Board meetings, and all Board committees. The incumbent will lead other governance and corporate activities and related duties that help facilitate the work of the CEO and members of the senior management team.
- What you'll do
- 1. Responsible for the Corporate Secretariat of the CIHI Board of Directors and ensuring its activities are compliant with regulations. This includes maintaining CIHI By-laws updated and provide recommendations with regard to continuously improving CIHI Board practices.
- 2. Plan agenda and materials for Board and Committee meetings including the maintenance of workplans, production of relevant supporting documentation, and requesting the documents from others within the organization. This includes reviewing French translations for accuracy.
- 3. Liaise with Board members, in particular Committee Chairs, and other external stakeholders and oversee the management and updates to the Board Portal.
- 4. Delegate and direct work to supporting staff members to ensure proper logistics and administrative tasks are conducted to support Board Activities
- 5. Attend and record minutes of the board and committee meetings to produce records of decisions, which are considered crucial governance documents.
- 6. Ensure Board Succession Planning activities are supported. Maintain proper records and work plans related to Board member nominations/elections and ensure appropriate orientation and continuing education material/programs are updated.
- 7. Ensure maintenance and accuracy of related process documents outlining how to support the Corporate Secretariat, including the documentation of standard works, and creation of templates and checklists.
- 8. In collaboration with the associated Director, Act as the secretariat to all Committees of the Board including Human Resources (HR), Finance and Audit (FAC), and Governance and Privacy (GPC). This includes records maintenance, and processes coordination for each of the committees.
- 9. Develop briefing notes and presentations, and research background documents for the CEO and other members of the senior management team on a wide range of topics.
- 10. Supervise, coordinate and monitor work, workload and performance of staff as it relates to their responsibilities and assignments and helps with prioritization of work in collaboration with the Department team and with the CEO Office.
- 11. Oversee corporate policy management, with the support of a governance and strategy specialist.
- 12. In promotion of the Governance and Strategy department will develop and foster collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders.
- 13. Will assume other related duties as required
- What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or related field.
- 5 years of experience developing plans, working with stakeholders and facilitating change initiatives
- Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of governance and corporate secretariat
- Demonstrated ability to work with executives and senior management
- Proven ability to resolve complex problems and develop unique solutions
- Proven ability to plan, lead and co-ordinate a number of concurrent assignments involving innovative approaches, in a changing environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication sills in both English and French
- Demonstrated ability to execute, working independently an
