**About the Vancouver Academy of Music**

Founded in 1969, the Vancouver Academy of Music (VAM) is a non-profit institution that has been spreading a love of learning and musical excellence for generations of aspiring musicians. Minutes away from downtown in a traffic-calmed location, VAM is housed in a spacious facility with teaching studios, large classrooms, two performance halls, and the inspiring scenic backdrop of Vanier Park.

In addition to private lessons and class instruction, VAM students have the opportunity to engage with world-renowned visiting artists in masterclasses, exchange with national and international partners, and participate in numerous performance and competition opportunities. VAM’s fundamental purpose is to explore the transformative power of music through fostering an inclusive learning environment led by a team of devoted faculty with strong professional backgrounds.

As the Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in advancing our mission by strategically planning and executing fundraising initiatives to drive VAM’s financial sustainability. You will collaborate closely with the administrative leadership team to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with VAM’s goals and objectives. This position requires a proven track record in donor cultivation, gifts solicitation, grant writing, and stewardship, as well as an understanding of the arts sector and the philanthropic landscape.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial support from individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government;
- Cultivate and steward relationships with existing and prospective donors, ensuring personalized engagement and tailored solicitation strategies;
- Identify, research, and prioritize funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and collaborative partnerships;
- Prepare compelling grant proposals, funding appeals, and donor recognition materials to effectively communicate VAM’s mission and impact;
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create impactful fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to increase donor engagement and retention;
- Collaborate with administrative leadership to identify funding needs and develop compelling cases for support;
- Maintain VAM’s donor management system to track donor interactions, gifts, and acknowledgments;
- Serve as a passionate advocate and spokesperson for VAM, promoting its mission and impact within the community and beyond.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with minimum three years of experience in a development role or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Proven track record of successfully securing gifts, grants, and sponsorships;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders;
- Exceptional writing skills, including grant writing, donor appeals, and reports;
- Knowledge of the arts sector and a passion for music education and performance;
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute long-term fundraising plans;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
- Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
