**Here’s the job opportunity**
- As a Junior Counsel at ivari you will be working in a small, collegial law department, providing legal support in a timely and professional manner, with a focus on
_ivari’_s life insurance business, with the support of senior counsel and in collaboration with compliance professionals. In this role you will provide excellent and friendly legal advice to all staff levels relating to
_ivari’_s conduct of business reporting to the AVP, Legal, including:
- Legislative research and interpretation, regulatory compliance advice and process drafting.
- Review of business initiatives.
- Corporate commercial work, including contract interpretation and drafting.
- Marketing review.
- Special projects as they arise.
- Represent the Company at industry association committees and working groups.
**What we are looking for**
- You are an LLB/JD
- You have been called to the Bar in Ontario or another province in Canada
- You have 1 - 3 years’ working experience with exposure in regulatory compliance and corporate commercial law
- You are a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada
- Business-minded, you focus on the business needs and are skilled in offering solutions to mitigate legal risks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including contract drafting
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities
- Ability to provide advice in an effective and efficient manner to other staff in other departments in a professional, customer focused manner to ensure resolution
- Bilingual reading and drafting skills, an asset
