We are seeking a Technical Officer to join our Mtce & Ops Engineering Support Department. Under the general direction of the
MOES Electrical Section head or delegate, perform as a staff specialist providing diversified and complex technical expertise on the
maintenance, condition monitoring, overhaul, repair, and replacement of equipment while maintaining safe, economic, and reliable
operation of Transmission, Distribution, Converter and Generation Stations. Being the technical authority this position, represent the
Corporation on matters related to this equipment.

**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Provide technical leadership, support, training, and guidance to operational technical staff in the maintenance, testing,

commissioning and operation of electrical apparatus and systems. Maintain a strong working relationship and work effectively
with maintenance staff to continually improve performance of the transmission system.
- Make recommendations to repair or replace equipment.
- Develop new and maintain/update existing maintenance criteria and standards for the equipment.
- Support engineering and station staff in the specification, design, installation, maintenance, condition monitoring, repair,
- troubleshooting, and replacement of equipment and systems.- In cooperation with Asset Management and Support Services, develop maintenance emergency spare stock and parts criteria
- considering population, failure rates, value, and availability.- Determine which apparatus is to be scrapped when salvaging from substations.
- Analyze operating equipment performance and malfunctions; recommend the most economical modifications to provide
- efficient and safe operation and improve reliability, availability, and performance.- Investigate and analyze and determine the root cause of apparatus failures and make recommendations directed at
- preventing future failures.- Initiate, monitor, and update information in the asset tracking system for significant equipment replacement and minor
- projects.- Support the Enterprise PCB project team and grid modernization.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- A two-year diploma in Electrical/Electronic Technology from an institute of recognized standing and five years' experience as

a qualified Technician in a field directly related to transmission equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Two years of the
above would be providing technical support or would be in a technical leadership position. Must have attended some courses
and training in leadership.
OR
- Membership in the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc. (CTTAM) as a Technologist and five

years experience as a qualified Technician in a field directly related to transmission apparatus maintenance and
troubleshooting. Two years of the above would be providing technical support or would be in a technical leadership position.

- A demonstrated advanced level of knowledge and understanding of the theory and operation, maintenance, condition

monitoring, overhaul, repair, and replacement.
- Understand maintenance principles, maintenance standards, task template, practices and procedures relating to the

equipment.
- Possess extensive knowledge in electrical apparatus test methods, evaluation of results, and use of apparatus test

equipment.
- Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba

Hydro policy P513.
- Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually.
- Self-motivated to carry out assigned duties with minimum supervision.
- Demonstrated aptitude and capability for providing technical support to field staff.
- Understanding of Manitoba Hydro's Drawing Management System.
- Basic knowledge of apparatus technical standards by the standards bodies such as IEEE.
- Willingness to improve skills and learn new technologies through self-study, courses, webinars, and seminars.
