**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and Payroll, the Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient processing of the bi-weekly payroll for approximately 500+ salaried and hourly employees in a unionized environment. The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for providing a high level of quality service to all stakeholders, including employees, HR, Finance, Management and external/government agencies while assuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations, and company policies.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Completes bi-weekly payroll cycle processing and ensure that payroll is processed timely and accurately
- Calculate and process pay adjustments, salary changes, retroactive pay and other payroll related payments
- Accurately process status changes, terminations, new hires, banking information, etc.
- Create bank files for direct deposits
- Prepare ROEs and respond to all government related inquiries
- Process manual cheques for all request missed shifts by manually calculating the statutory deductions, pensions, and other deductions required.
- Manage up-to-date pay rate and salary increases, probation list, seniority list, and vacation accruals
- Perform monthly reports for reconciliations of payroll accounts, including but not limited to employee withholdings, benefit, Pension, Union, WSIB, EHT etc.
- Manage and complete the vacation and sick entitlement rollover
- Complete year-end activities and balancing such as T4, T2200 and other related documents.
- Lead the year-end audits for the payroll accounts
- Effectively communicate with directors, managers, supervisors and employees regarding payroll inquires in a prompt and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance through detailed knowledge of company policies, Collective Agreement and payroll legislation.
- Develop best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy of payroll processes
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education - Community College diploma or University degree
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience in the full cycle payroll
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation or Certified Payroll Manager designation recognized by the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written) with a focus on providing excellent customer service
- Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines
- Proficient with AVANTI or similar payroll software
- Proficient with PC computer skills; MS Office (Word, advanced Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience in a unionized Non-Profit environment is an asset
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G or G2) and insurance as well as access to a reliable vehicle
- Must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination (2 doses)
- Bilingualism in English/French or other language would be considered an asset
