Reporting to the Fitness Manager theFitness Instructor is responsible for ensuring service excellence and assists in the supervision and safe operation of these programs and spaces, ensuring the YMCA of

**In this role, you will**:

- Delivers safe, fun and engaging fitness classes with a focus on building and facilitating relationships and in a manner that is consistent with YMCA standards, mission, values, goals and practices
- Develops a rapport with participants building positive relationships.
- Ensures that outstanding fitness classes are provided for all members in a warm, friendly, clean and safe environment; cleans group fitness equipment after each class and identifies maintenance and repairs to equipment required to supervisor.
- Ensures qualifications and certifications as required by the YMCA and regulatory standards are current at all times.
- Models appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviours with staff and members.

**Fitness Instructor Qualifications**:

- Current,valid certified Group Fitness Instructor and/or YMCA Personal Training Certification (or equivalent)
- SPRA, CanFit Pro, Speciality cerifiications, Licensed certifications
- Previous experience in developing and instructing fitness programs and classes
- Ability to instruct various group fitness classes an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to encourage and motivate members, and volunteers, acknowledge and appreciate achievements and contributions
- Current First Aid and CPR certification - Level A
- Experience teaching variety of group fitness classes, including CycleFit, Strength-based and Choreography-based classes
- Evidence of continuing professional development in the area of wellness
- Ability to adapt and instruct classes to a diverse and multi-level set of participants
- Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR C level C
- Liability Insurance (2 million)

Please note this is a contract role requiring a minimum 2 hours per week comittment.
