Sinai Health is a leader in all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Neonatology, with one of the largest programs and services in Canada. It is a fully affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, an institute of international recognition in which research in women’s and infants’ health forms a major component. The role of the Canerector Foundation Research Chair in Medical Disorders in Pregnancy will involve active leadership, nationally and internationally, to advance research strategies and knowledge translation in the area of Medical Disorders of Pregnancy.

The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) at Sinai Health System, a multidisciplinary team of MFM specialists, internists, geneticists, pediatricians, basic scientists, specialist nurses, sonographers and social workers, provides care for the full range of Medical Disorders of Pregnancy, including but not exclusive to obesity medicine, oncology, neurology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, endocrinology, rheumatology, cardiology, and hematology. Other areas of note within the division include our programs in Fetal Diagnosis & Therapy, Fetal Surgery, Prenatal Diagnosis, Placental Disorders, Complex Obstetric Surgery, and the Prevention of Prematurity. The Division services a metropolitan population of more than 6.5 million people. The Division actively collaborates with The Hospital for Sick Children via the newly established Ontario Fetal Centre. The Division has formal affiliations providing MFM services at Trillium Health Partners and Scarborough Health Network.

The Clinician Scientist’s professional time will be allocated as follows:
Professional time dedicated to research is required to obtain and manage a research group funded by operating grants and will form a significant portion of the scholarly activities. These scholarly activities are anticipated to have an impact at the national and international level.
