Edmonton, Canada Recovery Acres Society Full time

The Kitchen Support position supports clients in the Recovery Acres Program and manages all aspects of the kitchen, food preparation and meal service on weekends and holidays. The Kitchen Support position runs the kitchen on weekends and holidays as well as assists with the everyday operations of the organization.

**Position Requirements**

**Education and Experience**
- Keep all licenses, certificates, and accreditation up to date.
- Able to produce a recent police and vulnerable sector check.
- 6 months experience in cooking for groups.
- 6 months experience working with addictions and mental health is an asset.
- 6 months or equivalent experience through training, courses and post-secondary education in understanding addictions and mental health is an asset.

**Physical Demands**

Physical demands are limited to general kitchen work like cooking and cleaning. Not required to lift anything over 10 kg. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the described essential functions.

**Detailed Responsibilities of Position**

**1)**

**Kitchen**

**Management**
- Prepares healthy and tasty lunch and dinner meals with a variety of choices for clients.
- Follow meal plans and cleaning instruction from Kitchen Manager
- Maintain appropriate cleaning check lists

**2)**

**Maintaining Health Code Standards**
- Works with Kitchen Manager, Executive Director, Alberta Health Services Inspector and EDON Property Management to ensure kitchen is fully operational and always meets health codes.
- Works with Client Support Workers and clients to ensure chores in kitchen are done as required.
- Does daily cleaning of cooking and food storage area
- Proper food labeling and disposal

**3)**

**Kitchen Chores**
- Monitors clients doing chores in the kitchen after lunch and supper.
- Maintain appropriate chore lists

**4)**

**Professional Communication**
- Engage in appropriate and professional communication with both staff and clients
- Follows the direction of Kitchen Manager Executive Director and Program manager
- Follow and implement the policies and procedures of the organization
- Work with management to facilitate procedure improvement
- Track appropriate client and facility information in the staff logbook

**4)**

**Assisting with the Everyday Operations of the Organization**
- Assists all clients with daily needs as required.
- Answers phones when requested by staff.
- Provides information as required for weekly core staff meetings.
- Attends all monthly all-staff meetings.
- Report safety & infrastructures issues to Health & Safety Officer
