Akiva School is looking for a

School Counsellor
Akiva School is a private, English and French elementary school in Westmount.

The School Counsellor responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

- Overseeing the development and implementation of a systematic research-based program that decreases problem behaviors and improves social skills, leading to more high-quality instruction (e.g. Responsive Classroom)
- Collaborating, problem solving and communicating effectively with parents and teachers and administration
- Meeting with individual students and groups of students to resolve issues as they arise
- Consistently conducting student observations in the classroom and in all non
- structured settings
- Taking a leadership role in guiding students in appropriate social interactions in all structured and unstructured settings
- Responding quickly and effectively to crises and communicating with administration, staff and parents as appropriate

**Requirements**:

- Master’s degree in educational psychology, psychology or related field
- Experience working with elementary school children
- Flexible, collaborative, creative, organized, highly professional and discrete
- Fluent in French and English, Hebrew is an advantage

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

- WESTMOUNT, QC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
