**Temporary positions**

Under the Supervision of the Mini Storage manager of the Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society. The Outreach Support workers will provide a daily drop in support services to homelessness at the 48 West Victoria Street back parking lot, as well as street-involved Urban Indigenous women, men, and vulnerable youth. Must have facilitation skills and be able to plan on the fly.

**Objectives**:
To provide daily drop-in outreach services to all Homelessness people residing in the Kamloops and surrounding area.

**Description of Services**:
Direct Outreach Client service for approximately 40 clients ages 15 to Elders over the term of this 6-month agreement

One on one support must have facilitator skills and be able to plan on the fly.

Group support including mini workshops, cultural crafts, and activities.

Opportunities to engage with established services-linkage to existing services.

Opportunity introduced to engage with home community-linkage to home community contact.

Harm reduction supplies distributed. Harm reduction education and promotion

**Details of Direct Service**:
Implementation of promising practices, following discussion with the Kamloops Friendship Centre Management

Evaluation of services offered and identification of additional opportunities:
Of referral for service

Of support engagements

Of Harm reduction supplies distributed

Of group sessions facilitated/organized

Of facilitated connections back to community

**Accountability**:
Prepare and submit monthly activity (progress) report to the Supervisor.

Prepare and submit monthly activity reports to the funding agency.

Attend monthly staff meetings.

Referrals: Involves directing clients or general enquiries to appropriate relevant agencies, resource persons, and community

Report & record keeping: Involves charting the results of the assessment and treatment plan, writing reports and progress notes, as well as discharging summaries and other client related data.

Consultation: Involves consulting with health care, legal professionals, and co-workers regarding client treatment to ensure comprehensive, quality care for the client

**Qualifications**:
3-5 years outreach support experience in working with Homelessness clients.

Knowledge of local First Nations/Indigenous cultures and or a demonstrated ability to work with all Indigenous peoples.

Understanding of all health issues, homelessness, addictions, and mental health

Experience in completing reports to funding agents.

Computer literate

**Vehicle/driver’s license required.**

**People with lived experience would be an asset.**

**Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry as per section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code (please self-identity in your cover letter).**

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: From $25.00 per hour
