**Health and Safety Coordinator**

Tsain-Ko Development Corporation (“TKDC”) is located in Sunshine Coast; Sechelt, BC. TKDC is the parent company of the shíshálh Nation’s economic development arm and is comprised of a number of corporations and limited partnerships involved in carrying out its four primary economic functions: Natural Resources, Industrial,
Property Development, and Business Support.

**ROLE PURPOSE**:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer or Designate - the Health and Safety Coordinator will have the opportunity to lead the safety processes and procedures in the Aggregate Mining and Mine Haul Truck Service.
You will need to have a general knowledge of these industries and be able to audit third parties operating on contracted projects to ensure compliance.

**GENERAL DUTIES AND TASKS**

**1. Policy & Regulation Maintenance**
- Acting as Co-Captain of the site Mine Rescue team will be a key responsibility.
- Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and third parties.
- Raise health and safety awareness and report on key issues.
- Advise management on ways to minimize safety risks.
- Enforce OHS policies (e.g. incident reporting process, etc.).
- Collaborate with managers to ensure compliance with relevant safety legislation.
- Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OHS matters.
- Attend, participate and/or facilitate safety meetings, including Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and Monthly Safety Meetings.

**2. Site Safety Inspections**
- Perform site inspections at regular intervals.
- Monitor corrective actions as a result of site inspections, investigations or compliance requirements.
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations and recommend action to correct unsafe conditions and performance.
- Accompany WorkSafeBC inspectors, BC Mine Inspectors, or other health and safety representatives as needed.
- Report incidents, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts to the Manager or Designate(s).

**3. Incident Investigation**
- Respond immediately to incidents, ensuring risk mitigation strategies are implemented in a timely manner.
- Support management and supervisory personnel in incident investigations and reporting.
- Follow-up on corrective actions for incidents and near-misses.

**4. Administration**
- Perform internal safety audits, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain health and safety-related documentation and records.
- Complete and provide monthly safety reports as requested or required.
- Develop and implement health and safety programs and safe operating procedures, as needed.

**5. Safety Training**
- Analyze training needs across all sub-companies and develop work plans to ensure training needs are being met.
- Perform new hire safety orientations and job-specific training, as required.
- Maintain training records.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES**:
**Education & Experience Requirements**:

- Minimum 3 years experience in health and safety.
- Fall protection certification is an asset.
- Confined space entry is an asset.
- Train the trainer is an asset.
- Occupational first aid level 1 is an asset.
- NCSO Certification is considered an asset.

**Qualifications**:

- Passionate about Health and Safety.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Working knowledge of the BC Mines Act, Worker’s Compensation Act, and Occupational Health and

**Safety Regulations.**
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability; strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, people management, and administration.
- Proactive problem-solver that can manage difficult situations with positive results.
- This job role requires an on-site setting. Therefore, relocation is mandatory.

**SUBMISSION DEADLINE**:

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
