**Chief Financial Officer (CFO) - Job Description**
**Objective**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide accurate, timely reports and financial updates to ownership & leadership by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
- Monitor cash flow and ensure it aligns with the organization's operational needs
- Oversee all financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Implement strategies to achieve favorable financial results with respect to sales, profitability, cash flow, systems, reporting and controls
- Hire, train, supervise and retain skilled accounting staff to maintain the general ledger; gather and post entries, reconcile and analyze accounts, prepare journal entries, perform month end reconciliation, and review inventory adjustments in the general ledger to ensure that on-hand quantities align with perpetual using the existing ERP
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and work with management to implement strategies for reducing expenses and improving operational efficiency. Ensure manufacturing costs are accurately captured and perform product cost analysis
- Manage and oversee the relationship with independent auditors
- Collaborate with Management and Stakeholders on technology decisions
- Advise management on insurance coverage, potential liabilities, and financial strategies
- Assist in SR&ED claims preparation and provide R&D cost and revenue analysis
- Assist in the acquisition and implementation of a new ERP system, ensuring alignment with business needs
- Foster a growth oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures and guidelines
- Actively contribute to a clean, organized working environment
- Advocate for a positive attitude and work ethic throughout the organization
**Eligibility & Requirements**:
- 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally five years in a senior management role
- Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)
- Strong knowledge and experience with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises)
- Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
- Proficiency in MS Office and advanced financial management software
