**Software Developer**

Contributes to the overall success of Digital Banking in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

**Is this role right for you?**
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Collaborate closely with a team of UI and backend API developers, business system analysts, and architects to work on new features and incremental improvements.
- Provide technical expertise to contribute to the success of the development team.
- Work on sprint tasks, including coding solutions and assisting in triaging any issues identified by quality assurance testers or raised by production support teams.
- Map business problems to reusable end-to-end solutions, lead technical configuration, and support deployment throughout the organization.
- Proactively partner with business line representatives to drive improved technology solutions that align with the business strategy.
- Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
- Effectively communicate all concepts and guidelines to the development team.
- Oversee the progress of the development team to ensure consistency with the initial design.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers.
- Ensure the software meets all requirements for quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

**Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?**
- Over 5 years of experience leading a scrum team as a Technical Lead.
- Proven track record in building and managing large-scale systems that handle a high volume of data and events.
- Expertise in architecting and leading scalable systems.
- Strong understanding of best software development practices and security protocols.
- Build and lead the operational aspects of the engineering team, fostering both technical and professional growth among team members.
- Lead, inspire, teach, and influence the team to adopt modern engineering practices that result in frequent releases of high-quality services.
- Proficient in using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, and Git.
- Thorough understanding of Agile development processes.
- Demonstrated ability to translate ideas into technical and business solutions, and effectively align technology with business objectives.
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and UI/UX design.
- Strong understanding of software quality assurance principles.
- Possess a technical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence decision-making among stakeholders.
- Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives.
- Knowledge of regulatory or compliance requirements.
