About the Role

We are looking for a Parent Support Worker to join our multi-disciplinary team reporting to the Early Intervention Services Manager on a Part Time basis to work with children birth - 19 years of age. The Parent Support Worker Maintain or enhance the integrity, independence, and quality of life for families who have a child with special needs by strengthening their capacity to manage situations. Implement the Parent Support job as defined in the MCFD Children with Youth and Special Needs contract.

**General Responsibilities**:
The duties and responsibilities of the Parent Support Worker consist of, but are not limited to the following:

- Provide individual support services to parents based on specific identified needs.
- Promotion of rewarding parent-child interaction and positive parenting.
- Support parents in identifying and accessing activities that promote community integration for their child/youth/family.
- Develop and review parent and/or client service plans as a CDC team with each client on a regular basis.
- Plan and organize parent education or parent support sessions as requested as the need occurs.
- Maintain program records and statistical data as required by the CDC and program funding.
- Participate as required in service plan and staff meetings.
- Develop parent support materials for parents of children/youth accessing child and youth care services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Supervisor.
- Provide individual support services to clients over the age of 19 based on specific identified needs.

**Qualifications**:

- Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic First Aid or Child Safe.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Current Class 5 Drivers License and Personal vehicle for work use, preferred
- To communicate effectively with families, community partners, and the KCDC team.
- To promote healthy family functioning.
- To share knowledge of parenting information with families.
- To facilitate parent groups for families on the Parent Support caseload.
- To support clients to make decisions for themselves.
- To recognize own limitations and consult, refer, or delegate where appropriate.
