This position is only available to individuals aged 18 and older, who are living in Winnipeg, are legally entitled to work in Canada, and have a valid Social Insurance Number. This position may be grant funded.

**Synopsis**
Sam’s Place is seeking a mature, responsible, dynamic individual to supervisor our Volunteer Team and the participants in our Youth Program. This is a casual position, with one to three shifts a week.

Sam’s Place is a café, shop, and venue in the Chalmers/Elmwood neighborhood. Sam’s Place is a Social
Enterprise that is owned by Mennonite Central Committee Manitoba. It runs a Youth and Young Adult
Employable Skills Program that provides opportunity for youth and young adults, often facing barriers, to develop employable skills and gain experience for their future in the work force.

The Café Supervisor provides quality customer service to both walk-in, phone-in, and online Sam’s Place customers. They will lead the team through customer interactions and be responsible for equipping and overseeing all team members on the floor. The Café Supervisor will be trained to make café style drinks using the Sam’s Place espresso bar and prepare and serve customer orders. They will become familiar with our Point of Sale and delivery systems. They will also be tasked with training volunteers in the Front of House and reporting volunteer progress to the Volunteer Coordinator. The may also be required to work the food line in the kitchen if needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer service experience in either the food service or retail industries.
- Experience working in a team dynamic with a variety of different personalities/working styles.
- Strong problem solving and money handling skills.
- Attention to detail, willingness to go the extra mile, and superior organizational skills.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience an asset.
- Experience working on a volunteer team an asset.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide quality customer service to Sam’s Place customers.
- Train and mentor volunteers.
- Provide supervision and leadership to volunteer team.
- Process orders and payments for in person and over the phone orders.
- Run the espresso bar and make café style drinks for customer orders.
- Field and respond to volunteer questions and customer requests about product and service offerings.
- Open and close the Point-of-Sale system, providing a closing report each day.
- Open and close café, dependant on the day.
- Provide support to evening events and event coordinators as necessary.
- Diligently fulfill cleaning responsibilities.
- Connect with the Sam’s Place Program Coordinator as necessary.
- Other daily operational tasks as assigned.

**Physical Demand**:
Able to stay on feet all day.
Able to work with hot water (preparing drinks, washing dishes).
