**Scope/ Overview of Position**:

SDR hosts a clientele base in excess of 100 customers with over 1000 vendors. Our footprint is in excess of 2 million square feet throughout North America
As part of the Finance Department, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for maintaining payroll, updating records and employee changes, preparing reports, resolving discrepancies and communicating with staff at all levels of the organization. You enjoy working in a team environment with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
**Key Responsibilities & Duties**:
- Prepare weekly payroll through time attendance system for agency employees.
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll for multiple companies through ADP Workforce Now for salaried and hourly employees ensuring all data files are complete for processing and interfaced with National Time & our accounting systems.
- Participate in the timely processing of journal entries into the accounting system.
- Prepare reconciliations for payroll accounts.
- Reconcile WSIB, EHT and payroll deductions for monthly and annual reporting.
- Coordinate ROE’s, requests from Service Canada and employment verifications.
- Coordinate garnishments and administration as necessary.
- Manage group benefits administration with Empire Life or other benefits carriers
- Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
- Updates payroll records by entering changes as required.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, and non-taxable wages.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
**Qualifications, Education and Experience Required**:
- Post-secondary education in accounting and payroll (College Diploma or bachelor’s degree) required.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of full cycle Canadian payroll experience (US payroll experience is an asset.)
- Benefits administration experience
- Must have experience working with multiple sites throughout North America
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now is required
- Canadian Payroll Association designation or in the final stages of completing the designation is preferred
- Must have exposure to a variable workforce (seasonal) dealing with extensive time and attendance management.
- Experience in a non-union manufacturing or warehousing/distribution environment is preferred
- Must have the ability to work independently, solve issues and be a strong system’s-oriented person
- Great communication skills with the ability to deliver critical messages to everyone involved
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
- Excellent decision-making; problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- High attention to detail; strong organizational; multi-tasking; and prioritizing skills
