**JOB SUMMARY**:Reporting to the Employment Centre Manager, the PRIME Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing and delivering a 12-week-long job readiness program for older adults looking to re-enter the workforce into meaningful employment and facilitate access to support societal, mental, and economic health.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Provide clients with a welcoming, safe space ensuring their right to privacy
- Conduct needs assessments, intake and registration of eligible clients
- Implement and deliver a 12-week-long job readiness program for older adults (55+) looking to re-enter the workforce
- Facilitate workshops on the current workforce landscape, digital skills, soft skills, resume building, networking, and online job searching
- In collaboration with colleagues from Health team and DBNC-DEI committee provide DEI learnings, mental health and wellness workshops, stress management, including self-esteem and confidence building
- Create a plan of action tailored to each participant
- Assess clients’ level of employment readiness, needs and barriers, career exploration, labour market research, and training opportunities to achieve individual target
- Assist clients with resume building, interview preparation, networking, Social Media, job readiness and other job search strategies/skills,
- Partner with DBNC Mentoring staff to provide volunteering/mentorship/job shadowing opportunities to grow professional networks and reference pool
- Encourage and motivate clients to overcome challenges by providing counselling, and support to achieve client participation toward realistic, sustainable goals
- Support and monitor clients’ progress through regular follow-ups and making referrals to appropriate community resources/partners as required
- Collaborate with Job Developers to connect the client to employers and provide ongoing retention support (including monitoring and troubleshooting) to ensure sustainable employment
- Advocate for the 55+ age group of clients that are often neglected and challenge negative stereotypes
- Secure language-speaking volunteers to help guide clients through the program
- Prepare required stats and reports
- Participate in community events to promote DBNC; maintain and develop new partnerships and collaboration
- Collaborate with DBNC’s Employment, LINC, Volunteer/Mentorship, Community Health and Settlement teams
- Exit clients who graduate from the program with relevant resources and wrap around supports
**Qualifications (Skills/Knowledge/Experience)**:
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in the Employment Sector, program facilitation, career counselling/ coaching
- Able to work independently with mínimal direction while demonstrating the ability to exercise mature judgment
- Ability to create a culture of understanding, safety, and comfort
- Experience in conducting and interpreting client needs assessments; coaching and mentoring clients; working with individuals with complex barriers and a broad range of cultural backgrounds; working with individuals from a variety of Inclusion Groups; and building partnerships with employers, community agencies, and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of access to professions and trades-related issues facing older job-seekers, newcomers and OW clients
- Experience working collaboratively with organizations, employers and professional networks
- Proven Leadership skills, exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
- High level of computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet and Windows environment software
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Flexible, self-motivated and self-reliant, but able to work effectively in a team environment
- Organizational skills: able to set priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple workloads
- Knowledge and competence with office procedures and operations of office equipment
- Sensitivity and comfort working with newcomers to Canada
