Job Summary

Under the guidance of the Senior Director, the Director supports the objectives of the total fund and investment risk team, in collaboration with various HOOPP teams including investments, IT and different risk specialists. The incumbent will contribute to the foundational design, development and maintenance of the credit risk management framework.

As such they will be leading the development of a robust credit rating process, support transactional analyses for private and public debt, and develop credit surveillance capabilities to enhance the monitoring of credit risk in the fixed income portfolio.

What you will do:
- Develop and foster strong relationships within all other parts of HOOPP and build and maintain an effective and efficient network at a variety of levels in the organization.- Act as a credit risk expert and contribute to different investment risk team initiatives.- Lead the development and maintenance of a credit rating process for a large spectrum of public and private debt instrument.- Develop and maintain a comprehensive country risk framework to evaluate and monitor country-level risks, including political, economic, financial, and regulatory risks.- Collaborate with transactional analyses to review and analyze investment proposals to ensure risk return adequacy.- Meets the needs of the investment group through the development of a strong advisory service relationship and provides support and assistance to managers.- Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit risk of fixed income instrument and portfolio.- Lead and develops credit surveillance by performing desk research (financial statement analysis, monitoring of published research), and building market watch capabilities for different private and public credit segments.- Proactively monitors current events, gathers information from key sources and develops effective research and proposes solutions adapted to the business context of the portfolio.

What you bring:
- 10+ years of experience in a credit rating or credit risk related role analyzing simple and non-vanilla debt instruments.- Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting.- Master's degree in finance and/or CFA or FRM designation would be considered an asset;- Excellent financial analysis skills.- Skills with computer tools used in the financial market (Excel, SQL, Capital IQ, Bloomberg, etc.).- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to facilitate interaction with other partners within the firm as well as influence decisions.- Analytical mind and high rigor.- Superior strategic thinking and planning skills, including the ability to set priorities, identify opportunities and distill business implications from research and data.- Strategic and independent thinker able to make decisions in ambiguous situations.
