We are currently looking for a
**n Environmental Scientist **in a
** Permanent Position **to join the Eastern Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI) team. Reporting to the Environment Manager, you will be responsible for leading the preparation of various Environmental Assessment and permitting documents such as Project Protection Plans and the Permitting Plans for each of the ECEI project workstreams.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- Managing and conducting aspects of the environmental studies in relation to design, construction, and commissioning of the project.
- Support the procurement and management of consultant services used for the design and execution of environmental studies and effects-monitoring programs.
- Managing and conducting aspects of the environmental regulatory approvals/permits in relation to design, construction, and commissioning of the project.
- Managing the environmental aspects of construction activities; specifically the development and implementation of plans to mitigate and/or minimize potential environmental effects.
- Providing review, quality assurance and quality control of EA and related documents.
- Preparation and presentation of environmental information for public presentations.
- Supporting the review of contractor work packages and writing compliance documents with EA commitments and permitting requirements.
- You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of your co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
- You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives. Regular travel to project sites within Nova Scotia will be required. Travel to New Brunswick will be required occasionally to coordinate with the NB Power team on the transmission line.

**What skills make you successful?**
- You will have completed a Bachelor of Science degree (preferably in ecology, biology, geology, etc.), a Bachelor of Engineering degree, and/or a field relevant to environmental assessment. A graduate degree in any of these areas is an asset.
- You will have a minimum of three years related experience.
- Significant experience completing environmental assessments and evaluating the environmental impacts of linear development proposals.
- Thorough knowledge of provincial and federal environmental assessment legislation, regulations and processes, as well as relevant provincial and federal permitting processes.
- Field experience and an understanding of contractor compliance is an asset.
- Contaminated Site Professional with experience in Phase I or II environmental site assessments is not required but would be an asset.
- A strong knowledge of risk assessment and risk management concepts.
- You have a focus and a commitment to providing quality deliverables in a timely fashion.
- You are a self-motivated team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and make independent decisions in a timely manner. You hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License.
