- **Qualifications**: RECE and at minimum 2 years working as an educator and lead or supervisory experience is an asset.
- **Hours**:7:15-9:15 and 3-6 in program and 3 hours off the floor for mentoring and administrative support for the program Supervisor (Monday to Friday)
- **Benefits**: Permanent employment (RECE/ ECE Apprentice ) includes group benefits, paid time off and an RSP employee/employer contribution plan. To be a permanent employee and receive benefits, you must work at least 25hrs/wk.

- **Wages**:

- **RECE** -starting at $27.39/HR up to $29.62 over a 2year pay scale including all eligible wage enhancements through the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Workforce compensation funding, Wage enhancement grant (WEG) and other additional funding.

These positions work all year round, including summer. Regular hours will be guaranteed on PA days and school holidays, including the summer, but schedules for full days may vary based on the program's needs.

**Job Description - Lead Educator**
- **Scope**:_

Whitehills Childcare Association is a non-profit, multi-service organization that provides full-time, part-time and before and after school child care services to children ages 3 months through 12 years as well as the lead agency role for the Sir Arthur Currie Family Centre. The organization operates multi-sites, employs approximately 65 employees, and operates on a budget of approximately $3.2M.
- **Reporting Accountabilities**:_

The Lead Educator’s immediate supervisor is the Program Supervisor.
- **Summary of Primary Responsibilities**:_

The Lead Educator is responsible for:
1. Fulfilling all responsibilities outlined in the Educator Job Description while being a lead educator on the floor.

2. Peer-mentoring in consultation with the Program Supervisor.

3. Providing leadership on various projects, internal and external, as required, under the guidance of the Program Supervisor and Managers. This could include but is not limited to the development and leadership of professional development opportunities.

4. Support the Program Supervisor in building positive ongoing partnerships with all families in the centre/ program, including orientation and ongoing communication.

5. Participating in meaningful community work and developing positive ongoing partnerships with partner agencies, community organizations, regulatory and licensing bodies, and the general public.
- **Specific Accountabilities**:_

The Lead Educator has accountabilities in the areas of program development, human resources, administration and financial, as outlined below:
**Program and Program Development**

The Lead Educator will:
1. Ensure that all responsibilities as outlined in the Educator Job Description are fulfilled while being a lead on the floor.

2. Ensure safe, high-quality, play-based childcare programs that provide positive experiences and outcomes for children and families.

3. Ensure programs that meet the goals, approaches, compliance and contraventions of the Program Statement and Implementation Policy of Whitehills Childcare Association (see attached).

4. Ensure that programs reflect the organization’s mission, vision, and core values, as well as current trends, research, best practices, and licensing requirements.

5. Develop new knowledge in areas such as legislative requirements pertaining to child care. This can be achieved through participation in hands-on experience, meaningful professional development, both internal and external as well as community work.

**Human Resources**

The Lead Educator will:
1. Continuously mentor educators, students and volunteers.

2. Support educators' mentoring processes in collaboration with the Program Supervisor and in accordance with the policies of Whitehills Childcare Association.

3. Support the orientation, training and mentoring of new and transitioning staff, students and volunteers.

4. In the absence of the Program Supervisor, ensure adequate staffing is in place at all times and provide coverage as needed.

5. Support the ongoing and meaningful professional development for educators consistent with the Program Statement and Implementation Policy, Mission, Vision, Core Values and policies of Whitehills Childcare Association. This professional development allows all staff to grow professionally, set and achieve goals and reach their full potential.

**Administrative Activities**

The Lead Educator will:
1. Support the Program Supervisor in ensuring that programs meet all licensing and regulatory requirements.
