**Financial Analyst**

**The Financial Analyst** plays a key role in the company by administering cost accounting and inventory systems and processes, making recommendations for operational improvements and providing timely and meaningful financial analysis to assist management in understanding business results. This role also involves other areas within the accounting function including month-end close, account reconciliations, payroll accruals, inventory control, periodic internal and external audit preparation and support of budget and forecast activities.

The Financial Analyst’s **duties & responsibilities **include some of the following:

- In line with corporate procedures, support the collection of data on the activities of the operations.
- Verify the quality of data in the system related to the activities of the Canadian operations.
- Prepare and process reports in line with corporate standards, relating to indicators of the operations.
- Maintain and administer the standard costing system within Oracle including item set-up, material and overhead costing and appropriate production routing of individual cost units working closely with the Sales and Production departments.
- Update standard Bill of Materials.
- Maintain accounting aliases and GL routing for all standard cost inventory transactions.
- Inventory accounting includes reconciliation of periodic inventory counts.
- Investigate reasons for inventory adjustments and perform appropriate adjustments in Oracle after approval.
- Analyze business KPIs relating to the results of the operations, identifying and reporting deviations and anomalies when compared to the planned situation.
- As part of month-end close process, provide monthly reconciliation and analysis of inventory accounts, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Collaborate in the definition phase of the operations’ annual budget.
- Assist the Finance Manager in developing reports and analysis of production cost variances.
- Identify the reasons for any deviations found during the analysis of data.
- Complete other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
- A degree in accounting, business administration, or other approved Professional Accounting Designation program preferred.
- At least four years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing setting would be considered an asset.
- Willing and able to travel to the United States (Fort Wayne, IN) occasionally and work with a combined Valbruna “North America” approach.
- Strong understanding of product costing.
- Oracle or similar ERP experience required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and nested “If” statements.
- Superior analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and the proven ability to develop and implement plans, procedures and processes.
- Ability to work independently in an unstructured environment with little supervision and an exceptional initiative and ability to take ownership of projects.
- A strong willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean environment where adaptability, innovation and hard work are valued above all else.
