**Program Facilitator’s Position Description**

**ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE**

The Program Facilitator reports directly to the Program Director

**Skill Sets**
- Asset ECE or related education/experience in working with children and families.
- The individual should possess good interpersonal skills as well be a good communicator in both oral and written.
- It is important to be a team player who works well with others and is capable of referring and consulting with supervisor.
- Confidentiality is crucial in this position as well as discretion.
- Must have current Emergency First Aid CPR Level C; Volunteer Sector Check and a clear Criminal Records Check.

**Responsibilities**
- Ensure the atmosphere is conducive to learning, socializing and development in a safe and comfortable, culturally diverse environment with an emphasis on language development and emergent literacy skills.
- Assist with both long-and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
- Keep daily attendance records fully documented.
- Arrange environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy.
- Integrate special needs children in a positive and respectful manner.
- Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling & creative experiences (craft).
- Implement/model positive behavior guidance at all times.
- Set up and take down of child care room and general Centre clean up daily to include; lounge area.
- Assist in maintaining a neat, clean, safe and healthy playroom and play environment.
- Initiate and maintain effective communication with parents in ways that build on the strengths and capacities of the families.
- Provide relevant and current information and resources to parents regarding child development issues. Please refer to Program when necessary.
- Be sensitive to the needs of children and parents of different ethnic, cultural, education and economic backgrounds. Treat each family with dignity and respect.

**Other Responsibilities**
- Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis.
- Demonstrate behaviour that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Report any suspect abuse immediately to your supervisor (Program Director and/or Executive Director).
- Maintain sensitivity to confidentiality issues.
- Assist and promote literacy and early learning in the development and facilitation of interactive parent and child literacy activities.
- Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development as available and approved by supervisor.
- Be familiar with emergency procedures.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director and/or Executive director i.e. Fire Drill practice.
- The Program Facilitator may be required to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to participate in special meetings, community events and/or other on occasion as predetermined by the supervisor/ED.

Hourly Wage: $17.00/hour

20 hours per week including Saturdays
