A part of Communications Security Establishment (CSE), the TIMC is a government research institute focused on foundational mathematics and computer science. As a mathematics and computing strategic researcher, you’ll your knowledge and expertise to a wide variety of research problems and will thrive working in a collaborative and open-minded environment.

As a TIMC Researcher, your duties will include the following:

- Conduct high-quality research toward TIMC research focus topics.
- Identify research problems and projects in alignment with CSE’s research strategy.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues at TIMC, CSE, external partners within the security and intelligence community, other government partners, industry, and academia.
- Provide high-quality dissemination of research results in the form of internal technical reports and presentations, external peer-reviewed publications, contributions to software projects, etc.
- Maintain situational awareness in research developments and provide advice and guidance to clients and decision-makers.
- Conduct service activities (develop and deliver training, committee membership) to maintain a healthy workplace at TIMC and to support the wider organization.
- Use appropriate information management methodologies in the context of a multi-classification (e.g., secret, top secret, protected, unclassified) environment.

Mathematics and Computing Strategic Researcher
- UNMA-11 : $136,863 - $158,120 per year
- UNMA-10 : $121,105 - $139,987 per year
- UNMA-09 : $107,432 - $124,208 per year
- UNMA-08 : $99,861 - $115,504 per year

**Location**:
All jobs are in Ottawa, Ontario.

**Education**:
You must have either one of the following:

- PhD* in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related discipline completed by the start of the position. Relevant and recent professional research experience will be considered an asset.
- MSc in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related discipline and at least five (5) years of relevant and recent professional research experience. More than five (5) years of relevant professional research experience will be considered an asset.
- The educational program must be recognized in Canada, and you must be able to provide proof of education credentials. Students graduating within the next twelve (12) months are eligible to.

**Experience**:

- Conducting research, demonstrated by a track-record of high-quality research publications, presentations, or contributions to software projects.
- Communicating research results in both oral and written formats.
- Working both independently and collaboratively with teams of researchers.
- Designing and implementing algorithms, and/or experience in scientific programing.
