**Job Description**:
**Rigging Supervisors** oversee the design, creation and maintenance of rigs for all shows. They guide the team to deliver quality assets to animators. They set the tone and vision for the department.

Rigging Artists at **FOLKS** design, create and maintain highly accurate, efficient, and elegant rigs for high end visual effects. They care about their assets, how they move, and how other artists interact with them. They work closely with Creature Designers, Modelers, and Animators to develop and refine rigs that let them tell the best stories.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**As a FOLKS artist**
- Pursues the highest quality and pushes to create the most engaging images
- Works successfully as part of a team, seeks collaboration opportunities
- Organizes, prioritizes, and communicates to meet production needs
- Takes part in creative discussions and actively participates in dailies
- Addresses notes and keeps the end goal in mind while iterating on the work
- Stays flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a set workflow as well as having the creativity and problem-solving skills to work around issues

**As a Rigging Artist**
- Set quality standards for their department, promoting best practices, and rigour
- Obtain all the information required to design the rigs, meet the visual & technical quality expectations, and complete projects in time
- Motivate, coach and support the rigging team by managing aspects of skills & career development in collaboration with their department manager
- Train team members focusing on specific skills to hone, contribute to the department documentation
- Rig complex characters, bipedal, quadrupedal, and others
- Design new rig behaviours outside of a defined framework
- Collaborate proactively with modeling supervisors and animation supervisors to maintain rigs and keep them working smoothly at all time

**Qualifications**:
**Requirements**:

- At least 5 years' experience in VFX, Animation or Games
- At least 1 years' experience as a lead or supervisor
- Thorough knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and animation principles
- Expert understanding of pivots and geometry deformation
- Experience with a large variety of complex creature work, facial rigging, and the FACS system including quadrupeds, bipeds, and snake-like beings
- Experience with Maya and a good understanding of the VFX pipeline

**Desirable**
- Experience with the mGear framework and other Maya plugings, like ngSkinTools
- Experience with muscle systems or other dynamics techniques
- Able to write code to accelerate rigging workflows, able to write tools for others with a special attention to UI/UX
