**Position Overview**

The Project Coordinator reports to the BSCoA Manager, who in turn reports to the Academic Lead of the Centre. The position includes a high volume of work with varying complexity, deadlines, and peak periods, in a dynamic environment with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders (researchers, educators, knowledge users, providers, etc.). Decisions and the actions of the Project Coordinator could impact the reputation of the BSCoA, the O'Brien Institute, the Cumming School of Medicine, and the University of Calgary.

The primary purpose of this position is to support BSCoA leadership with achieving two strategic priorities: (1) enhancing the age-friendliness of the University of Calgary and the City of Calgary; and (2) catalyzing transdisciplinary aging research and scholarship that focuses on age-inclusive innovations, environments, practices, and policies.

The position is located at Cambridge Manor, a continuing care facility operated by the Brenda Strafford Foundation in the University District.

**Position Description**

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Centre Coordination
- Coordinate BSCoA-led initiatives, projects, and programs to build capacity in aging-related research and education at the University, facilitate community engagement in Calgary and beyond, and inform policy that enhances the health and well-being of older adults and the aging population
- Support educational and community engagement activities of the BSCoA, including student-focused programming (e.g., journal club, scholarships, enrichment opportunities) and intergenerational programming
- Coordinate the planning and delivery of both in-person and virtual events ranging in size and scope
- Operate with mínimal direction in carrying out assignments and projects, seeking guidance and consulting others when appropriate

Stakeholder Relationships
- Organize and facilitate meetings among both internal and external stakeholders whose interests and activities and align with those of the BSCoA
- Establish and enhance BSCoA collaborations related to our age-friendly and transdisciplinary initiatives
- Examples would include: liaising with University of Calgary administrative units, faculties, and groups; working with community-based seniors serving organizations, the public, and government

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- Masters in a discipline that is relevant to aging and/or health research
- At least three years of experience coordinating initiatives, projects, and programs that involve multiple stakeholder groups
- Highly developed organization, time management, and communication skills, including the ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work accordingly in a range of situations, which may include complex, sensitive, and confidential matters
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to relate effectively with university staff, students, administrators, and external stakeholders
- Teamwork skills and the ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision
- Experience preparing and delivering presentations and reports to stakeholder groups
- Knowledge of older adult health and direct experience with older adults is considered an asset
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating projects and programs is considered an asset
