**Your Contribution to NRSI**
NRSI is looking for two (2) locally situated, motivated, and independent individuals to conduct field monitoring activities at operating solar energy facilities in the Edmonton area, primarily consisting of wildlife mortality searches and/or the placement of bird test carcasses. These positions provide an opportunity to gain experience in visual bird identification, to implement scientific methods, and to collect and analyze data employing a high attention to detail. The primary duties and responsibilities for this role will include:

- Taking well-organized and detailed field notes
- Maintaining regular communication about the assigned field work with project managers, fellow field personnel, and clients as necessary;
- Conducting searches according to a strict schedule and safely collecting and handling bird carcasses; and
- Occasional assistance with other field
- or office-related tasks.

**Your Education**:

- A degree or diploma in Biology, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
- Individuals currently enrolled in such programs will also be considered.

**Requirements**:

- A valid driver's license and over 18 years old to drive a rental vehicle.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Willing & able to work under inclement weather, in a variety of environmental and vegetation conditions, for long hours, and occasionally on holidays or weekends.
- Physically fit to walk for several hours each day in potentially challenging terrain.
- Demonstrated interest in wildlife and the environment, including the desire to pursue a career in this field.
- A good work ethic and positive attitude, dependability, flexibility, and excellent communication.
- Ability to work independently on a regular basis.
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, including the maintenance of well-organized and detailed field notes.

**Assets**:

- Experience in the identification of birds by sight.
- Proficiency with simple navigation, and experience using handheld GPS units.
- Experience surveying wildlife and/or conducting soil assessments, vegetation inventories, or delineating vegetation communities using standard survey protocols.
- A reliable personal vehicle is insured for work purposes (authorized mileage will be reimbursed).

**Salary**:$20.00-$25.00 per hour commensurate with experience.

**Estimated number of hours per week, including authorized travel**:5-20 hours.
