The Child & Youth Worker Assistant will work under the direction of the Child and Youth Worker (CYW) Supervisor and the Education Director. The Child and Youth Worker Assistant will work in cooperation with the WFN Education Department. The Child and Youth Worker Assistant will assist the Child and Youth Worker Supervisor to develop and implement youth programming for after school, and Summer Camp. The Child & Youth Worker assistant works in a program space indoors and outdoors as well as an office setting.

**Job Duties**
- Maintain a supportive comfortable atmosphere, encouraging students in their individuality, while complying with the policies and procedures of the First Nation
- Assist with Observing children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, and supervisor
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, and community service providers working with children
- Assist with creating behaviour plans and incorporate behaviour management techniques
- Assist in developing, and implementing an afterschool and summer programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development for youth ages 7-18
- Assist to develop program calendars and detailed daily agendas
- Assist to implement the daily activities in an effective and safe manner
- Assist to prepare budgets and work plans for the After-School Programming, Summer Program.
- Responsible to submit reports on specified due dates
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and food as well a purchase as needed
- Maintain youth registration forms and medication authorization forms
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- Have debriefing meetings with CYW Supervisor on daily outcomes of programming
- Incorporate the Anishinabek culture, values, traditions, and teachings in programming where possible
- Assist to develop and review any policies pertaining to the youth program
- Maintain a healthy environment by performing a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties as required
- Able to work at any youth programming location if/as required
- Perform related duties as outlined in the job description, and other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- College Diploma or University degree in Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, Teachers Certificate or Social Service program
- Knowledge of Anishinabek culture would be an asset
- Must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate or be willing to obtain
- Must have strong technical skills in office equipment and proficient in Microsoft Suite programs
- Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to run programming
- Experience working in a team environment, also the ability to work independently or with mínimal supervision
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Sound knowledge of de-escalation skills
- Must have valid G Drivers License
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening)
