**About the Organization**
- The major focus of the research in the Giacomantonio Laboratory at Dalhousie University involves a comprehensive analysis of tumor microenvironments from patients enrolled in the research program. Treatment strategies will be tailored to individual patients’ tumor immunology, metabolic and epigenetic profiles. This information in conjunction with selective ‘systems’ analysis will ultimately dictate treatment strategies for each patient.

**Job Summary**
- Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Technician will be responsible for providing routine and non-routine technical support to researchers in the laboratory. In addition, the Research Technician will play a key role in the design, execution and optimization of a number of immunological laboratory projects and experiments and will perform technical tasks in the field of immunology.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct, design and optimize various culture-based assays and immunology assays including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry.
- Design and optimize murine cancer models.
- Acquire, process, analyze and archive clinical biological samples.
- Contribute to the mentoring and coaching of graduate students.
- Conduct literature review, surveys, data analysis and interpretation, laboratory experiments and other research for use in scholarly publications and participates in manuscript preparation.
- Assist with the safe operation of all laboratory equipment for various users, including stocking all necessary materials and supplies and ensuring that lab supply inventory is monitored.

**Note**
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet operational requirements.
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

**Required Qualifications**
- Master of Science in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of related technical experience in immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology techniques, and microscopy.
- Experience with cell cultures and conventional culture-based approaches, as well as with various biological samples (e.g. blood, tissues, urine, etc.
- Experience with murine cancer models including basic surgical techniques, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal and/or intratumoral injections, cardiac puncture and murine organ removal.
- Strong analytical skills to carry out technical procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent manual dexterity.
